Well sometimes I have used #1...not in a negative way but meaning I liked the color combination and it wasn't on my radar and thanks for showing me the combo.

Quilt Police Beware! My sewing room is guarded by an attack pussy cat who will put fur on your quilts if you get to critical of my work. Tee-Hee-Hee Good thread. We need to support our young quilting colleagues. Quilt on!
And why do we make quilts? I make them to keep someone warm...sewing warts and all.

Quilt Police? I have never actually seen one, so they don't exist.

I would not consider an instructor the "quilt police" since you are paying her for her knowledge. there are really no set rules for quilting so you can do anything you want.

Three Dog Night, your quilt stash looks exactly like mine, even down to the cats.

I would like to say that I'm shocked people actually say those things. Sadly, I am unsurprised. I recently completed my first quilt. It's a lap size done with a batik jelly roll. My own mother, who has never quilted anything, saw the fabrics I was putting together and then began to make several suggestions as to what I could do differently, and what colors I should leave out. A week or so later, when it was finished, I took it to her house and showed it to her. She seemed stunned that it turned out to be pretty.

I am lucky and only associate with people that make those kinds of remarks. I am a lone wolf, quilt only at home.

Now, that is just rude. You go ahead and enter whatever you want to enter. Just remember that judges can be particular in what they comment on... lol

I know I have said something to the effect of "putting those colors together" but it's been a compliment! I tend to not be very adventurous with color so it really is a good thing when I say it!
