    I tend to agree on the first setting. It is almost like an evolution of the hieroglyphs design telling a story.

    In my humble but totally honest opinion, I would do the first. In the second one (at least to me) the end pieces do not look the same and also make the fabric look cut at odd places. The first seems to have a consistent flow in the fabric and just simply is more pleasing to my eye. Only one opinion, and it obviously is not the same as others. You'll have the final decision. As long as you're pleased . . . that's all that really matters in the end. Either will be a skill feat I think.
