Sewbizgirl, I will try to post my winning fair projects after I pick them up this evening. I had posted my "Up North" queen size quilt not so long ago. I am the most proud of that one as I am competing against those awesome longarmers out there by doing the quilting on my domestic machine. I actually think they should have separate categories for different quilting methods. Although, hand quilting is a separate entry as it definitely should be. It is hard to find any hand quilting at fairs these days. None at our fair except on small projects.
I agree that hand quilting is practically a lost art. I can't do it worth a flip-- my stitches are ugly!-- so I really admire anyone who can. We have a lady in our group who does the most beautiful hand quilting. She is older and her hands are all gnarled and mis-shapened from arthritis, but she still quilts like a dream! She loves to do it, too.
Here is a lap quilt I got done putting together yesterday:

Oh I love the garlic knots. What a great scrappy quilt. Well I only got half of the quilting done on my Burgoyne surround so far. Had to take time for a funeral for BIL. Maybe today will get the other half done. I have heard others mention how many bobbins it took. I have never paid attention befor but so far I have used 4.5 bobbins for just the first half. Glad I have plenty of thread for the whole quilt

Here is the quilt I am working on right now. Quilting is about half done. The anniversary dinner last night was extra special because our kids, grandkids and my parents were there too. Feeling blessed...

I have had a pretty productive weekend so far. I got the binding on a quilt for my grandson so I can get it in the mail tomorrow. I finished the main blocks for my Hanging Garden quilt, and my husband got the barn door rail up for the design wall we are putting in my sewing area. We just need to put the wood together, add the batting and rollers and get it up (hopefully today or tomorrow). I can't wait for that to be finished. It will slide across the two open closet areas so that I can access my fabric bins when I need to. I hope everyone else is feeling good about what they accomplished.

It's already Sunday and I just remembered it's VQW weekend. I'm in, but I haven't been as productive as I might have been if I'd remembered this yesterday (I treated myself to a lazy day). But, I have a UFO on the longarm right now. And Friday night was my monthly Mad Quilters sewing night with friends. I finished about 1/2 of the border on my Judy Niemeyer project, so I'm pretty happy about that. Plus, this is a long weekend here, so I plan to keep my part of this VQW going at least until tomorrow night
Next up - either another UFO on the longarm, or my current one block wonder will get some attention (after I get outside and mow the mess I call a lawn).

Judy G I love the hanging gardens.
I've only completed 3 blocks, # 1,2,5, and started the log cabin one. I'm slower than slow. I need a new pair of glasses and the appointment isn't for 2 weeks yet, on Cabin in the woods Bow by Debbie McInnis.
