Need new dishwasher
#12
About 5 years ago my dishwasher (at my previous home) died. I ordered one to replace it, it was delivered, and the installer said that my cabinet's opening was not high enough for that one to fit. The house was only about 9 years old, so it surprised me that there isn't a standard height allowed for dishwashers. (It also surprised me that the dishwasher died after only 9 years. I looked up the average life of a modern dishwasher online and guess what - 6-10 years!) The bottom line is to first measure the opening in your cabinet and be sure to get a dishwasher that will fit. I wound up with an LG with stainless steel interior and was very happy with it. Then I moved, and have an older dishwasher that works fine but is not as quiet, as pretty, or as "snazzy" as the new LG. But I will keep using it until it won't run any more.

I've had a Kenmore Elite for about 8 years or so now. It's been a really good machine. The inside is stainless and it never seems to get dirty. I cook a lot and put everything in the dishwasher so it's get run twice a day sometimes and I've had no problems with it.

Love my Bosch--it is now 19 yrs old and no repair calls. Very quiet and the ''delicate'' cycle works for me. I think I've only used the next "up" cycle twice in all those yrs. Okay, I, too, confess to rinsing my dishes before loading, but do not wash until it is full.

Bosch. Cleans really well (I “swear by” Cascade Complete powder) , is very quiet, well-configured to hold a lot of dishes in various ways, and looks good. It has both a 2 hour cycle and a quick (1 hr) . We only use the quick and I have always had good results except with cheap detergents.
So quiet you have to see if the red light is shining out the bottom to tell you it’s on. I like that so much because I can actually run the dishwasher while carrying on aftwr-dinner conversations with guests without embarrassment. And without turning the TV up or the DW off when the phone rings.

I have a Kitchenaid about 5 years old. Very quiet, very long running, though it does have a 'quick' cycle - 1 hour. Does a good job without any rinsing or prewashing. Cutlery is on the side which frees up space - it also comes clean.

Got rid of ours after 10 years. My hands were in water and chemicals at work at the salon. Left the salon for a different career and dishwasher was acting up. Hubs helps gather dishes from table and tends to feeding dog and I can get the dishes done in no time with just 2 of us. Water bill has gone down considerably. I wash the dishes by hand in water as hot as I can stand it. I don't miss that dishwasher one bit.
