The closest model I could find is a Kenmore 86. It might be close enough to be exactly the same mechanically. The bobbin winder is different and the main body has a more angular design. There might be a free manual for it some where, but all I could find were various pay versions.

There is no exact US match for this machine. The 158.xxx were made by Maruzen-Jaguar, the 148.xxx machines by Soryu, the machine pictured is likely made by Toyota or Koyo-Seiko. I'd have to see more of it to be sure.

My wife and I just picked up a C877.50 today. We're also in Canada. The machine is a tank (in a good way). Other than some issues with the wiring, which I can easily repair, it seems to be in excellent condition.

From what I've been able to determine, there was no US equivalent to this model. It appears to be an exclusive to Simpsons.

The closest thing to a manual I've been able to locate online is for a C877.15, which is a US model. While similar, it has a different control mechanism for the stitch length and direction. The online manual is a very sketchy PDF which I was mostly seeking for oiling/maintenance instructions.

We have a very good local independent sewing machine repair guy so hopefully we'll keep this running for years more to come.

No, it's also a Canadian model. The US machines did not use this type of numbering system, only Canadian machines did.

I was gifted the exact model with no manual either. The women who I got it from lived to almost 101 so not sure how old this machine is. But it works....LoL

I found a photo of what claims to be a 1957 Model 99K, wearing a Kenmore badge. 99K is a Singer model I believe. The link below is a Pinterest photo of the machine, looks to be what the OP has.
