Default pot holders and mitts

I am making potholders and mitts for gifts. Would you make one matching mitt and potholder or 2 mitts? Sometimes I think I over think things to much!

My opinion? : One mitt would be sufficient but two mitts would be a great bonus!

Just my opinion, but I really dislike mitts. I toss them to the back of the drawer and use just the pot holders. The reason? When I pull something out of the oven I like to use the pot holder as a hot pad to protect the counter and the mitts are just too hard to pull my hand out of while leaving the mitt under the hot dish.

I've used one mitt and hot pads. I always place a hot pad on the counter for the dish as needed. and have burnt finger inside mitt but it was store bought. my son loves the mitt so we still have it. If made well, some people might like having two mitts but at least one and two hot pads would be my best suggestion.

Everyone is different ...
... for me, I wouldn't thank you one bit for mitts, one or two, or of any sort!

Yes, old fashioned I am ........ I still like my pot holders!

So for me, I would be thrilled to receive pot holders (any number) and a larger hot pad/quilt
to set goodies straight from the oven on top!

It’s so interesting.... I love a mitt as I can grip things much more safely. I find Pot holders are hard to grip things properly. I have silicone matts on the worktop to put hot things on but generally just leave them on top of the hob until cool...

So I think 1 and 1 would be a good combination - please the majority.

I am in the same camp, I use pot holders, not oven mitts. Only exception when I worked in a commercial bakery and there was a very real risk of burning arms taking sheet pans out of ovens.

If I am in a kitchen that only has mitts, I use them like a pot holder, I do not put my hand in it.

Disclaimer: my "old" arthritic fingers and wrists need all the help they can get
Therefore, I am in the "mitt fan club". I prefer them to pot holders that may not bend enough to get a good grip on things. It kinda depends on what I am removing from the oven: a cookie sheet with cookies is easy enough to handle with a pot holder but a large casserole or Thanksgiving turkey where you need both hands, two mitts are much easier to manage the weight. Plus with a mitt, it doesn't flop over into whatever you are removing from the oven.
If you are making for gifts for people you know, maybe check out their kitchen or start this little debate in a casual conversation to get an idea of what they prefer.
