Can anyone suggest a block pattern that is suitable for a group of quilters who will each be making a block to include in a quilt? For instance, something that can be made larger and squared up so each block is the same, without losing points. TIA

Are you referring to a sampler type quilt? If so how about the one that they are making on Shabby Fabrics or the one that geared towards beginners on the Fat Quarter Shop? You can see videos for both of them on each of their You Tube channels. If this is not what you are in need of how about going to the quilters cache and just choosing different blocks or the other thing that my guild did was we picked out different blocks on Pinterest and put them together in a quilt.

I’m notvsure if you mean a sampler quilt or everyone makes the same block using their own fabrix choices. If the latter, then a churn dash is simple and classical. Look at Patchworkquilts.com.

Wonky stars? The points are away from the edge, so squaring up should be fine.

Perhaps, a favourite block of the maker for the centre square to make them individual?

You could always put a narrow sashing between the blocks - this would get round the points not matching up problem.

I would recommend the cake mix recipes using 2 10 inch squares of their own fabric. Each component would end up the same so the blocks would be close enough to the same. If not, rippety do da, and they could be resewn.

Disappearing 4 or 9 patch can be squared up and look nice with sashing.

I was in charge of a guild auction quilt several years ago. This is what we came up with. The gals got two squares on cream fabric and made one block (I have outlined it in black) out of their stash in fall colors. It was an easy block. I only had three blocks that I could not use for a variety of reasons but had asked for 5 more than I needed so I was good to go.[ATTACH=CONFIG]618101[/ATTACH]

Our quilt group used this pattern and all the members made two blocks for two Christmas quilts we are giving away this year. It is a very forgiving block and is easy to make. There are many ways to set these blocks also.

I have heard of quilters using a log cabin block and directing the outside logs to be made a little wider than they need to be, so the assemblers can trim them all to the exact same size.
