Default Singer 9W

I was visiting a relative in Minneapolis and, somehow, ended up shopping in a person’s garage who happened to have about 60 sewing machines, and I found this. I had no idea what it was when I saw it, but was intrigued so it found its way into the car with 4 other machines. There is no “W” on the serial number, so I think it’s a later model. The bobbin case is in it, along with a bobbin, and from what I found on another thread it’s possible it takes 301 bobbins. It spins freely and the decals are in pretty good shape, so far it appears to be missing only a needle plate screw. I wish it had a boss for a hand crank though as I don’t have a treadle table to put it in.

You have an unusual bit of Singer history. Singer bought Wheeler Wilson. And started using their factory before they moved Singer parts in. They used Wand W parts and rebadged them as Singers Maybe a few other changes. That's one reason it doesn't have a boss WW hand cranks ( if any) would not have used Singer mounts.

I don't believe it shares a bobbin with many, but I'd be glad to be shown the error of my ways.

My W W follows..

Singer 9W is an exceptional sewing machine. It can be used with Singer cabinets if you'd like to take it for a spin.
