    Default Brightly

This is a pattern called Brightly from Cluck Cluck Sew. I used a layer cake featuring wintry fabrics that I bought at a garage sale and augmented it with fabrics from my stash to make a bigger quilt. The back is an attempt to use up more stash. The picture on the bed was before the binding was sewn down.

Just gorgeous and I love all your "fills" in the quilting. Beautiful job.

That’s beautiful. Did the quilter whose fabric you’re buying die? I just can’t imagine that anyone would be getting rid of fabric at garage sales and replacing it at the ridiculous price of fabric today! I wonder do you know what the line of fabric was that you used?

Beautiful! I love your color choices and the border really pulls it all together, and your quilting is DIVINE! I just finished the last block of mine last week, such a easy and quick pattern to put together, and like you I added an extra row.

Thank you. Actually I've been to several quilter's garage sales the past few years. For the biggest one (which was actually a series of sales) the quilter had Alzheimer's and was unable to quilt anymore. Her daughter was selling her enormous stash in order to help pay expenses. Another was for a quilter who was moving to another state and couldn't take all her stash with her. Another was several quilters trying to prune their stash. And later this week I'm going to another quilter's garage sale where the quilter died. I agree with you about today's prices!

The fabric line for the layer cake was called Sheltering Snowman.

Well! The name of the layer cake explains a lot!! When I looked at your photos, I kept thinking that it would be a lovely Christmas quilt without being limited to just that season. Your quilt is beautiful! And thank you for all the pattern and fabric info you provided.

Our guild has often 'helped' members who are downsizing, moving to seniors' residences or spouses in the case of a death, by organizing sales within our guild community as well as in broader terms.
