Default How do I label this block?

How do I label this block? I created it from looking at a pic. It's not someone else's pattern, but it's not my original idea, either. When I couldn't download the pattern, I designed something similar. Do I call it Eastern Sun Rise by Happy Turtle?

Yes, Eastern Sun Rise by Happy Turtle. There are templates available for free download of the placement for the fabric. Also the pattern is available in a book and sold on Amazon. As you stated it is not your original design, not something you thought up and designed. You copied it from a photo.

Is this the one you string pieced because you couldn’t download the pattern and the pattern is paper pieced? Say, “Inspired by Eastern Sun Rise by Happy Turtle.” You can add that you used string piecing rather than paper piecing.

That’s what I would do. Beautiful block, by the way.

"Inspired by..."
I love that. I don't sell anything; I just wanted to get the lingo correct. Thanks.
BTW..I would welcome suggestions on ways to finish with borders. I just started the blocks without a quilt design.

rjwilder, where would I find the templates that are available for free download of the placement for the fabric? What is the name of the book on Amazon

Well, I was searching Google Images for border ideas when I came across this site offering the Happy Turtle's template to download for personal use. https://quotes.pinnedby.me/View/view...09726015916776

What a beautiful design. I saw Japanese fans when I looked at the pattern but it's your quilt and you have the honor of naming it whatever you like.
