Many years ago I had got the idea to cut up scraps so I had a lot of 2.5" squares in the same fabric along with what I got from the swaps. I had inherited a GFG partially done quilt my Mom started for my sister. I finished it up but converted it to setting triangles (or it might be another 30 years before it got done!) and was able to cut up all the remaining blue and green hexies into 2.5" squares and used them for the Rose quilt.
Oh, I was hoping you would be back. You are always full of good ideas as you showed in the photos you posted. The Rose of course is beautiful and yes, it looks like cross stitch or one of those clever pixelated photo quilts in color rather than in gray tones. I kept your name on my 2024 list for a possible return but will move your name to the 2025 list.

Keep stitching and of course lurk all you want and show off your accomplishments. It is always encouragement to the rest of us. Of course, you can always change your mind and join us in 2024.The new sign-up will appear soon. Tee-Hee-Hee!

Default More candies received

Hi all, I got wonderful packages again over the last few days, from Quossum, lots of gorgeous Christmas colors, from Laf2019, cool modern fabric, from Travellinggramma, great fabric and a few bonus pieces (on the top) and from Patrick’s Mom, beautiful “i-spy” worthy prints (really dig that day of the dead one). Thanks and Hugs!!

FYI to all, I posted the 2024 thread just a few minutes ago. As of this time we have 10 who have signed up for the 2024 swap already. I have kept a running list of QB Members who contacted me mid-year and I will send them a PM that the new swap is open for 2024. I am looking forward to another year of perfect swapping, new additions to our 2.5 collections and all of those links to quilts and projects that use our birthday candies.

Still undecided? Forgot to sign-up again? PM me and I can add you to the list.

I've been working with my blues, greens and purples. Starting to run low...! What I have a TON of is neutral print candies; whites, beiges, grays. Anyone have a great quilt idea for neutral 2.5"s?

Neutrals are often masculine. Value contrast is key to their success.

I used a lot of neutrals put together for backgrounds. This pattern had a dark background and light snowflake, but I switched it as I had a ton on light candies to use up.

Here is another candy quilt. For this one I sorted the candies and put them into groups of 36. Each group has a theme based on something other than color. Some are all stripes, some all have stars, etc. I really enjoyed making this quilt.

After I retired in the spring and my family decided to have a reunion in the fall, I went to work getting as many quilts finished up as I could. My kids had first pick and they took 11, and I took another 30 to give to family. With our plans to move south after we sell our house, it might be the last reunion I'll be driving too, so won't be able to bring a car load of quilts with again.

Love your quilts, Macybaby! The 36 patch would be fun to figure out what the theme of each block it. Love the snowflake quilt too, and the way you sorted the neutrals WITH other colors in them and those WITHOUT colors. Very effective for a fun background!

Thanks for the thoughts and ideas, everyone who commented.
