Ibex, don’t fret about it!

I looked at some of the blocks that came in and so far they’re the best for being right on 12-1/2 inches square compared to earlier swaps. Woo hoo. And very neat with no threads hanging off. Very pretty blocks. Thank you ladies!

So now Ernie is my sewing room companion. My heart has swelled.

Cheesehead and Have4Boys are both getting a Turkey Giblets block, just in time for Thanksgiving! Accuquilt just came out with this Turkey Giblets Block-on-Board right around my bday and I decided I needed it. The first one made was for Cheesehead and I really liked the amount of blank space for quilting elaborations. I wanted to try it in dark colors too so Have4Boys's patriotic colors fit the bill. Now that I am posting these I realized that Have4Boys also has a floral fabric that also has used Turkey Giblets but I don't have a picture of that one to show yet. I made myself a Halloween themed Turkey Giblets, too. Accuquilt speeds up the cutting process so nicely. Finally making the time to sew up already cut blocks is pure joy!

The picture of Cheesehead's block doesn't do the block justice. I may go back and redo it with a splash of color on the corners. It is also cropped very funny compared to Have4Boys's. I'll probably fix it tonight. I'll repost if I do get it wrapped up.

I bought a Carol Doan (I think --- I need to double check) quilt book and decided I needed to try to make the stars in that quilt for this BOOM. MJPEncintas gets the first one of the stars. The book was published before standardization of templates came around. The first pass on the block was too wonky. Out came the seam ripper and I read through the introduction where she suggested that putting a dot on the corners of the template will help keep everything lined up properly. Sure enough! A few more trials and errors and I think I am ready to send this one in.

Rebaquilts, I found lots of denim colored fabrics in my stash to make this block. The gradations of denim worked well with the blocks you sent. I do like this pattern but I may applique another dark denim to give you a stronger four-patch in the corner look. This is a Quilt Block Galore pattern.

Annaquilts, I loved this scarecrow and am very happy to tell you all that it comes together very quickly after you cut all the pieces. I did not embroider eyes. What color would you like the eyes to be? I am hand embroidering, not machine embroidering. Or do you like it without a face? The pattern came from one of the Farmer's Wives books.

Oh. Look at Ernie! So sweet curled up in his little bed. I know he's happy and secure with his new loving mom and dad.

Ibex, I'm enjoying your block show! Really great blocks. Accuquilt is rather fun to use. I have an old one but only bought a few of the basic dies. I did splurge on a Storm At Sea 'block on board' die, but have yet to use it. My friends have borrowed it, tho. And I've made many "Take 5" quilts for charity, using a friend's Take 5 die.

Re: all 3 houses being one party majority: It usually only lasts 2 years, til the mid-term elections. Then things all switch around again. Obama's triple majority only lasted 2 years.... I think the voting populace gets nervous having all three houses of one party, so they usually don't last past the mid term elections. That's my theory, anyway.

Off to finish a quilt or two for donation tomorrow at group!

Love the Giblets block, thank you Ibex! All your blocks are very pretty, great job!

Awe, Ernie looks so sweet in his new bed, glad he enjoys being with you in your sewing room. He is a very fortunate pup to have such wonderful new parents to love him!

NZ love the blocks you have been making for this swap, especially your recent block for TG. So happy you will be returning for the next Boom!

I’ve never attempted a Giblets block. Looks tricky. Great job, Ibex.

SBG, your pkg is out for delivery. Should be here shortly. Yes, seeing such nice blocks was an absolute pleasure! The care taken is so appreciated by all, I’m sure.

So DH had to put wire fencing up around our existing wood fence bc Ernie can squeeze through! Hadn’t anticipated that development. lol. Anyway DH was happy to spend the day on the project for the little fella. Now he can go in the backyard without us worrying he’d go walk about without us. We’ll be nearby anyway as he might look like a tasty tidbit to the many hawks around here.

I finished my last block for Annaquilts this morning, corn and tomatoes for your farm.

I popped by our LQS this afternoon and picked out a deep blue for the sashing for my Civil War blocks. I'm hoping to make it a large lap size when finished, since my Hubby is 6ft. I also picked out some Christmas fabric for a new Christmas tree skirt. I don't get out often, so it's a real treat to chat with other quilters and pat all the pretty fabrics!

Janice, I mailed off my Boom package when I was out in the town too. I'll email you the tracking number.
