Default Brand new quilter from the UK

Hi everyone, I'm really happy to join this forum. I think it's a great resource and I'm enjoying deep-delving into the various threads and seeing all these amazing photos.

I'm on a fixed income, so I've been building up a fabric stash from thrift stores, mainly sheets, duvets and curtains. I've made a few simple projects, but there's a definite learning curve! I'm trying to embrace my mistakes and learn from them, though.

I'd add some pictures of my recent projects, but I'm unsure how to upload them.

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf and on an ipad at Posting Pictures From an iPad

Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button. As shown at Standard Sewing Machine Co. Paragon

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.
    https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...p-location.jpg

Some additional info regarding reducing images at post #4 and images for the scroll and upload button can be found at #5 of quilt block ID?

Another way to post pictures can be found at 2021/2022, 2.5” Birthday Swap
And how to use an ipad to post pictures can be found at Uploading photos and Posting Pictures From an iPad

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
    Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

    Some additional notes -
The photos generally need to be reduced to less than 2MB in size. I have heard of people sending an email to themselves as it will ask if you want to reduce the size.

I have an android phone and when I tried to reply on Quilting Board while in mobile view None of the options for adding pictures was available. However, there is an option down at the bottom left of the page that is for Full Site when I tapped on "Full Site" It then looked like the way it looks on my lap top. So it would have the Red Reply and the Go Advanced options.

    Do Not Preview post.

Welcome Leslie. I don't know if they have estate sales near you, but these can be very good ways to boost your fabric stash.

I search terms like "sewing" and "quilting" to get good results. Quilters often have stashes from their mothers and grandmothers (and friends and neighbors).

If an estate sale runs over several days you'll find the best bargains on the final day. Bring tote bags or garbage bags with you - often they'll let you take a whole bagful for a super affordable fee.

    Glad to have you!

    Welcome aboard from abroad

I am also a budget based shopper. Checking clothing content labels, there is a lot of fabric in the back of a man's shirt (especially X sizes) and usually little wear or stains.

But the big thing is to embrace you new hobby, try stuff, learn stuff, and try stuff again. We are glad to share in your adventure and looking forward to pictures!

Welcome and yes, you'll enjoy this group as they're friendly and helpful whenever you need it. Yes, we love photos of your projects. You'll need to go into "Go Advanced" found at the bottom of your "quick reply". Then head towards the attachments. Be sure to keep them under the size allowed. And don't go to "preview" as you'll lose it all or at least I do. I just reread what I wrote and hit, send.
