Here's my top with two different choices for borders. I did thimblebug's extra pinwheels and Quossum's rearranging the squares for finishes squares over the quilt. Then I switched the dark pinwheels on the borders into points, to try to emphasize the "X" pattern a bit more, not sure that was successful but I'm okay with it. Now for the border. There are so may colors I'm not sure what to do but here are two thoughts. I'm leaning toward the red but that is just SO. MUCH. RED.

Oooh, that’s a brilliant finish! I almost wish I hadn’t already put on a border! Looks amazing!

Great idea on the outside edge! I like the blue border, but then I am partial to blue 😀

I think the points were very successful, Pamelor! And I also go with the blue border, it looks just right to my eye.

I don't participate in the mysteries but follow them, you all do such good work, such a fun time to be a spectator.

Hmm. I had planned to do the Cuts and Bolts mystery but Sherrie keeps them up forever so I could do that one later. So I might tackle this instead. I'm going to use batiks, but when going through them realised most of mine are mediums. But I put together two possible colourways. I'd appreciate any advice on which might work, given there isn't a lot of definition between dark and mediums.

Beautiful fabrics! Did you try changing them to black and white to see if there was enough contrast? I tried to save your photo to do it, but they come up fuzzy on my ipad.

Thanks for the reminder. On the first pic the medium and light read about the same and on the second the dark and medium read close. I'm wondering on the second choice if the bright colours of the medium might be enough to offset the values since those are not cut up and would be prominent?

THAT makes a huge difference! I also used Thimblebug's idea to finish the pinwheels. When I had the quilt put together, I didn't like the unfinished squares on top/bottom, so took off the bottom and moved to the top to finish the squares. But, when I finished the pinwheels, I finished all of them. I really like how your finished squares turned out.

    And, another vote for blue.
