Brenda, your candies arrived yesterday. Thank you! Terri, yours are the only ones missing and I think you mailed them eons ago so they are in postal deep space somewhere.

Pamelor that is why I detest mailing my envelopes from here. It makes me so nervous. If they don’t arrive soon I will send you another envelope.

My screen name… when I first join I was working on a log cabin quilt (which is still not done!) and the 82 is what year I was born… making me feel old!

Am thrilled to report I’m working on my candy quilt, color blocks. Below is where I am today but I hope to have it partially assembled by 2.5 day. We’ll see. I’ve diagonally quilted the red and green blocks and will start on the blues or yellows in the morning.
Wow! I love your color blocks! That is so cool! I might need to try this type of block!

Hello everyone, I started my new job last week, so my screen time has been more limited. I will be mailing out the envelope on Friday. I have started on the quilt top using my first ever group of squares from this swap--my birthday squares 2024. I will post pics on the 25th. I am hand piecing this quilt top and then will hand quilt it. I find hand piecing a way to calm and center myself and certainly lately, I have needed an "escape" project.

Screen name: I am not very creative with usernames and also needed something that I could easily remember. When I created my Quiltingboard account, it was to connect with other in the Vintage Sewing Machine group. So Heathermom2opmc is my first name, mom 2 (to) and then my 4 children's first name initial (Olivia, Parker, Mikenna, Carson). Not very original, but it's me.

I am giggling at myself. Been trying to figure out your screen name and never considered the initials of your children. That is creative, clever and unique. Good for you. Looking forward to seeing your efforts with the 2.5" birthday squares.

Hand stitching is a delight but my list of "To Do" quilts is to long to use hand stitching. I enjoy adding the hand stitching to bindings and have does some hand quilting but not as many as I would like. Any one else a hand quilter?

Hi all from snowy New Orleans. The interstate has been closed in and out of town for two days now. Perhaps tomorrow we will thaw out enough for normal traffic to make it through. My university is teaching remotely because of the frozen roadways so things are crazy! It is beautiful but cold. I have not lost electricity so I am cozy and warm and feasting perpetually. I have also been playing catch up with my online course support so haven't had any quilting fun at all.

Everyone's names are fabulous even the ones that have straight forward explanations. For simplicities sake, I am just a stubborn goat (ibex). 94 represents a good year for me. I tend to use the same log in name for everything. It's just how my brain operates.

Janice, aka Feb birthday girl, your colored candy blocks are great. No trips to the post office for me until the black ice is good and gone (Friday?).

Fire in the west, ice and snow in the east. Crazy weather!

Heathemom2opmc thought it was Heathers mom and couldn’t figure out rest!! Thanks for sharing

Log cabin … old??!! My son was born in 82!

Very windy on the beach so no outdoor activity. Took out my sewing machine and sorted out my dark candy and will sew.
I do have a hand quilting project I bring with me. Grandmothers garden using hexes. Easy, not much thinking do I can sit and listen to.

Work continues on the color blocks. I’m so happy to have something to show in a couple of days. Finally! I still need to get to the LQS for some black. Was there yesterday for it but was distracted by other fabrics for a swap and left without black. Oh, dear! Now I feel old!

Sounds like me at the grocery store. List in hand, walk the isles, basket full and get home only to find I forgot some item, I need for a recipe. Yesterday it was yeast for special dessert bread I was making for last evening's late Christmas celebration with my family. (I had just a little so had to adjust the recipe.)

Enjoy your trip to the fabric store and I will add yeast to next week's shopping list. Tee Hee Hee!
