travelinggrmma, be sweet to your back! Sewbizgirl and Janice, hope you two are feeling better.

After fighting the post office on campus to get candies mailed to Janice (they tried to sell me an extra ounce stamp for .68 and told me my forever 2 oz stamp on the envelope wasn't valid for 2 oz!) I went to the main post office in Metairie and they said my package was just fine and stamped it on its way with the 2 oz stamp. No additional postage needed. Post office newbies need to have a price for current stamps available to refer to when customers come in that know what the rates are supposed to be.

At least I got something done for my sewing addiction even if it is mailing a single envelope. Happy Brthday in advance, Janice.

Congratulations to our contest winners! Thank you WMUTeach for keeping us focused on fun things.

Ibex I went to the post office yesterday, my candies were in a business envelope and the envelope was pretty flat, it had a 2 ounce stamp on it. First the clerk didn’t recognize the stamp she had to go to her boss and they went online and found it. Then she said I needed another 45 cent stamp as it couldn’t go as an envelope. I explained the same size envelope and stamp were all that was necessary in Minnesota and she said if they accepted it as an envelope then the recipient had to pay the additional postage. She would not even put it through the tester they have for thickness. Paid for an additional 45 cent stamp. Talk about no consistency.

These mailing inconveniences are very frustrating to hear about so it’s got to be much worse to experience. I’ve been very lucky. I just mail mine out with the two ounce stamp and a larger envelope (but still considered standard) with no problems. Sorry some of you have to deal with it.

I’ve put my candy squares quilt away for now. Want to work on other things right now.

    Have a nice day, everyone.

I used to use the business sized envelop, but switched to the 6X9 envelope years ago because I can spread out the candies more thinly and not get into a fuss with the PO personnel. The two ounce stamp works every time and they always pass through the tester. Sorry you are having such challenges with your candies.

I will be dropping the two contest winner's packages off tomorrow to the PO. They should arrive early next week.
This is such fun giving away stuff that I have collected all year for just such an opportunity as this.

Thanks all for the info on mailing and the arrivals. Take care of yourselves. Enjoy the sun even if it is cold. That vitamin D is good for us.

RedPurseLady, it shouldn't be. I send mine with a forever plus an extra ounce stamp most of the time and it is Okey Dokey.

I did a quick update on my mailings chart and about half the envelopes are sailing through the hills and valleys to reach our February birthday swapper! Yea!
