Spring is still hiding behind snow clouds although the snow was light. It is cold and feels like November. Isn't it amazing that in November this snow would please us knowing that it would be coming to decorate our trees and bushes for the holidays. Today it is a yawn and a wash of yearning for warm showers and daffodils nodding in the passive breezes of spring. Enjoy your day no matter what is outside the window.
WMUTeach, these star blocks are stunning. Love them

These are for Lstew and LogCabin. I'm not really happy with the one for LogCabin...the small green/blue pieces seem to get lost in the blue I chose to go with it. Maybe I'll get a chance to take another shot at this one. I have more hummingbird fabric and a little more of the blue/green too.

Oh..and after making more oversized flying geese and resizing them with a "regular" ruler, I've decided to invest in a couple of the bloc loc rulers for making these..
Thank you for my block, it is perfect. Logcabin's block is great too

Went for a short walk around our cul de sac like a real person. Didn’t need my cane and had no pain besides the incision sites. Woo hoo. Time for a nap shortly.

We’re keeping an eye on the NC fires. A couple are very close, about 12 miles, and the wind is strong. Not worrying yet but keeping an eye on them and making a plan just in case. Us, Ernie, both cars, computers, Ripley’s and Cyrano’s ashes and some clothes. Everything else is replaceable and we’re lucky to still have the cabin in GA to flee to. Cannot believe this could happen but then we just went through Helene. Sheesh.
Janice, sorry to hear of the fires this time. Stay safe, prayers to you

Looking ahead, I’m thinking about the next Boom starting in August to be finished before the holidays are in full swing. Hope you all will consider joining again.

Have a lovely day!
So glad you are going so well, Janice. great to hear.

I have my fabric picked out for the next BOOM, YAY . August will be great for me. I'm In.

Calling for rain and storms this weekend. I have my knitting club on Saturday. Dinner with my sister n law Saturday night and then I plan on finishing my blocks on Sunday. I hope to have them in the mail sometime next week. I also started working on Boom 32 blocks putting them into a quilt with "Quilt as you go" Hope to be able to post a picture in the next couple of weeks.

Oh my did it get exciting here. Rained like all get out great, then we lost power. After an hour power came on, wind started up and it was raining buckets and with the driving wind you could barely see. Then the tornado sirens went off. We looked at each other and said oh oh no basements here. In Minnesota they tell you the location and the direction of the tornado. None of that here, just head for safety. Then the power went off . Now it’s flash flood warnings over all the phones and electronics. Hoping it settles down soon but another wave is heading this way. We have jugs of water ready and a twin mattress we can put over us in the closet along with a lantern.

Good evening. Still here and walking slightly better. Woo hoo! The fires are a little closer but nothing to do yet. Just wait and hope it rains in the next few days.

I’ll check in tomorrow. Enjoy your evening

Terri, that's not the kind of excitement you wanted, I'm sure! Hope the storm isn't too bad and you won't need the mattress and closet.

Hope those fires stay away, Janice. How great that your knee is not giving you too much trouble!

I went to our JoAnn's on Monday, after my guild meeting. They started liquidating later than most of the other stores. They were up to 50-60% off certain things, and still 20-30% off others. I bought a book at 40% off... They still have mountains of fabric to get rid of, but most of the other things you would want are pretty picked over. Books, yarn, notions are at least half gone. They seem to be getting bolts of fabric from other stores that have closed. It's all in big boxes on the floor. I'll check back later, when the discounts are bigger.

Hello to all. Hubby went to town and picked up the pain meds. They won’t let me take what I normally take, everything acts as a blood thinner. So I got Tylenol 3, it worked and I can raise my arm without a symphony of groans and shrieks! Having an incision in the back that you can’t see or touch is difficult. And acclimating my back to the new battery pack that has moved in might take a while.

I’ve been hand sewing all day, well I slept til noon 🤭, and my contrary block is coming together beautifully with hand stitching. I’d give you a sneak peek but there’s not much of a block yet, just 10 of 16 pieces that are beginning to look like they belong together. I might do something crazy like ignore a normal bedtime to get some extra time in on it. I hate stopping when I’m on a roll!

My grandson sent a note today saying this time next week our great granddaughter will make her entrance. Difficult thing is they are 140 miles away in Troy, Ohio and I’m not In traveling mode yet. The best part of the electronic age, live phone calls! Elouise has been making some noise like she’s ready to move out, so the doc is planning on helping her. Been 5 years since we’ve had a new baby, so there’s lots of excitement!

Thank you all again for your prayers. I so appreciate all of you. I love my blocks and I love making blocks. This is a great group. It seems like the blocks in Boom 33 are extra special this time.

I’m so glad you are walking around without too much discomfort, Janice. ( I can walk just not bend, twist, lift or do housework. The discharge papers said so) And praying for the end of the fires. North Carolinians have had their share of traumatic events of late. Time for a season for healing.

Happy that you and your back are doing better, GramE. That sweet great grand will be there for you whenever YOU can handle the trip pain free. Having something to look forward to can often be the motivation to keep up with eating, exercise or habits that will bring us healing. Yea for you! Keep up the good work and hand stitching. I am impressed. It seems that few of us do hand assembly any longer.

GramE glad the pain is getting better from the procedure. It would be weird to sit back and feel the device in your back.

Stormed through the night, but the sun is shining now. We had 10” of rain by the time we went to bed and not sure how much more after that. We have been asked to drive only if necessary so no trip to the post office yet. Our friends are 50 miles east of us and they had 21” of rain. They are supposed to be moving today and have 3 feet of water in their driveway.

Janice we have been watching the fires in your part of the world, wish our rain was happening there.

GramE- so glad you're on your way to relief from pain! The discharge orders included no housework? YEAH!!!

I just realized I don't have a lot of yardage so I'm going to look for something special for the next Boom. Most of my yardage is just white, off white, etc. and some prints that I'm not all that wild about but will use for backings. I quit buying yardage quite awhile ago when I became nuts about fat quarter bundles! I have Kaffe yardage but I used some for a recent Boom.
Janice, you sound great!

I have a couple totes in Minnesota that is fabric I purchased just for possible booms but I never use from the bib. Something else always catches my eye. Naughty me!
