What do you waste time on?

Wasting too much time on Facebook and watching YouTube videos of quilting techniques that I already know. Why do I do it?, guess it is just comforting to see someone else being a skilled quilter. I have been much better at scrolling past them in the past few weeks when I saw my weekly time on media totals. Shocking and a serious waste of my time.
As with others, I waste time hunting for items that I have miss placed or put away and can no longer find. I also packed a "To Go" bag for each of the working groups I attend. I have scissors a basic ruler, thread needles for hand and machine quilting, pins and clips and rotary cutter. With the To Go Bags, I don't have to gather the same tools and put them away every time. One group is an wool applique and that has a few different items but no rotary cutter. It works for me. That way I don't pack unpack and lose track of what I need.

My sewing room is upstairs so I keep a rolling tote with machine and notions in the foyer closet. I keep a retreat bag with it that has small iron, ironing spray, ironing pad, cutting mat, power tower, and desk light. All I have to do is pack the projects I want to take.

Yes, me to! I have one roller bag that is filled like your bag. Love knowing that I all have to do is add my projects, fabric and patterns. I also add in an extra back support pillow. Why not be comfortable while I work!

So many things. Sitting outside watching the day. Looking out a window. If I am doing something it's isn't wasted. But I don't live to quilt and do a lot of other things. Right now I pieced some pillow shams to match the quilt I made for grown granddaughter. I sometimes sit in my sewing room and look out that window since it is on second floor and all I see are treetops. I do watch YouTube sometimes.

I am addicted to patterns. I don't even want to know how many I have saved on my computer and printed and put in bindersl I have a terrible time trying to make up my mind on what to do next because I have so many I want to do. And don't even get me started on Pinterest. I can go down that rabbit hole for hours.

Working. My job really gets in the way of my gardening and quilting.
With my quilting, there are some things I don’t do in the most efficient fashion (like I prefer to make a few blocks at a time start to finish rather than assembly line style it) just because that’s more fun for me. If I’m enjoying myself it’s not time wasted. That’s probably the key, I have wasted some time pushing myself to quilt when I am tired or not in the right headspace, and have found I don’t enjoy it and I make more mistakes, which then leads to rework.

I feel this! I used to commute maybe 70 minutes to work in good weather (sometimes double in winter). I didn’t mind too much at the time because i’d listen to podcasts or audiobooks and the drive itself wasn’t bad. When I started working from home, the time I got back was amazing. Now when I get a little bored/frustrated with work and think about looking for a new job I do remind myself of my 30 second commute to my office, and how my occasional 13 hour day could be a 15 hour day with driving. I really feel I was giving away a couple unpaid hours of my day to work for so long without thinking about it at all.
