I have not but others on the board have and have mentioned that they are happy with the fabric and service. I know some folks rave about the in-person store and shopping experience. I'm in the same place plenty of fabric for the quilt tops, but rats, nothing much for backs. I will be watching for the response to your question too.

Such beautiful quilts and blocks being shown!

I buy backings from Marshall's and have had some fading on a few on the pieces over the years, particularly dark fabric. It's not serious enough to keep me away from buying more from them. I've had some backing that was just beautiful. I also buy backing at Hobby Lobby, not as large of a selection, but I find what I have bought there to work just fine also.

Last week I went to the Quilts of Valor presentation and was impressed. I had no idea that they provide the fabric, batting and backing to make the quilts One quilt can be made by three people, one to do the piecing, the long armer and the binder. The names of those individuals are listed on the QOV quilt label. They will be returning with kits for making quilt tops, some will have panels and others yardage. I decided to start a quilt over the weekend using my own fabric, I am about half finished with it and will post a picture when I am finished.

Cheese: Thank for helping with the Quilts of Valor.I was horned to present a quilt to a friend that I made. We both had to wipe the wet spots from your eyes. (nelco)

We have a QOV group nearby. They work at the LQS so I’ve seen some of their work. Wonderful! Please show us your top when you are finished. Thank you for you info about MDG. I did go ahead and order a few yards to try it on my red and white Boom blocks.

Tonight a neighbor dropped of a carton full of fabric from his wife’s stash. She’s the neighbor with dementia. She was a quilter and LA’er. He’s unloading a closet full of fabric one box at a time. We agreed that whatever I cannot use I will donate to the guild. They’ll be thrilled. There is a lot. He just wants it to be used. I can see to that, one box at a time. He’s already given me enough yardage for several quilt backings, and here I just ordered some. lol. Oh, well.

Janice I am embarrassed to say I have 2 rooms full of fabric. Told the family they get first shot at the fabric, probably only my sister. Then all the rest has to be donated. What my sister doesn’t take for the missions the rest will go to Sunshine, they make quilts for children overseas with cleft plate.

Chreesehead thank you for your participation in Quilts of Valor. When I looked into it when it first started they had so many rules and regulations I chose to donate to Sunshine.

Janice many of my backs came from Marshall’s, had a flaw here and there but very happy for the most part.

Terriamn- love the fabric and the design. I don't know if it's the lighting, but the quilt makes me think 1920's era.

I’ll put a warning to those with queasy stomachs might wanna skip this post. If this post is over the line of bad taste I will remove it.

Been a long day here. 8 hrs in the ER with my husband suffering seriously with an impacted bowel. I believe the final tally was 1 CT scan & 7 enemas with no success. They admitted him so he could see the on call surgeon tomorrow. As I left to get some medication he needed from home, I stopped in the parking lot to send a family text to the kids. Dad’s in hospital going to see Dr Epp tomorrow for an impacted bowel. Instantly, I got a response from #2 son, “Dr Epp just did surgery on my hiney last month.” About 3 minutes later #1 son chimed in, “Dr Epp took care of my behind problems “. Now My husband, #1 son and #2 son have all been treated by Dr Epp. I was beginning to feel like I needed to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner. My husband said make him a box of spritz cookies! You have to have a strong constitution to put out a topic for comment to my children, to be able absorb all the sarcasm and jokes that follow. This could go on for days. Gratefully, at 9:00pm, hubby called to say he was clean, inside and out. Those 7 enemas got together and did their job! Hallelujah! I wouldn’t argue if someone suggested it was the laughing that did the trick. This all added a needed bit of levity to a problem that could be very serious. We knew a young man whose impacted bowel ruptured which led to his death. A thought that couldn’t be escaped throughout the day. (My two oldest sons qualify for senior discounts most places so they aren’t young whippersnappers).

Now to rearrange tomorrow’s plans so I can finish the three blocks I’ve been working on.

Terri and Janice, beautiful quilts. Janice, if I remember correctly many of the quilts you show us are large, maybe queen or king. Do you always do that large? Plus I’m trying to figure out a way to become related to Terri. She has good taste in fabric.

GramE, what a blessing that your DH is doing better! That is a serious medical condition, glad it worked out the way it did. I did laugh out loud at your comment about inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner!!!

Oh yeah, the hiney jokes will continue!

GramE, what a serious situation resolved! So happy to hear hubby is back to normal. And I second what Cheese said about inviting the doc to Thanksgiving dinner. I guffawed, ever so delicately I’m sure. As for my quilts, most I make are for donation and they’re usually smaller, lap sized or a bit larger so that I can easily quilt them myself. Bear Branch is 78 square and Morning Glories is 84 square. Those are the exceptions to the rule as is the grey Boom 32 quilt top.

Just got off the phone with my eldest son. It looks like he’s going to have to take his 14 year old pup to the vet to be euthanized. He’s not been eating for days and now he’s having breathing problems and is acting lost and confused. Henri, the pup, is a sweet boy. My heart is breaking again and my son is beside himself. It’s suddenly become a very sad day.

GramE, I am happy to hear that your family has found a doctor that you all like. Your poor hubby having to go through all that! I'm glad you posted because this kind of information needs to be out there to know that heading to the hospital is the right thing to do for certain bowel issues.

Beautiful quilts and blocks! The gallery is gorgeous! I have been insanely preoccupied with regular life issues and haven't kept up in here as I should. The blocks you all have made for me are stunning! I need to find a few hours to wrap up some of my creations to get added into the gallery. Time is flying! Have a great week everyone!
