This customer service left me confused.

I wonder if the part is not currently in stock and they are waiting for it to come in? That's the only thing I can think of. Why they wouldn't just come out and say that, I don't know.
Hopefully, you will hear back in a week and be on your way to a repaired cutter. Sounds like you've got another you can use in the meantime.

Interesting. I just went to the Quilters Select website and found the replacements listed for the 45 mm.

This sounds somewhat familiar to me. I have a different brand cutter; there's a plastic piece I would often break (I tend to press too hard). They will sell a replacement for that part, but it isn't listed on the website. I inquired about it by email, and was told that piece can be purchased separately, but only by calling the company and requesting it. My assumption is that they would rather people bought the much more expensive replacement package that includes that part, but also parts that typically don't need replacing as often, if ever. I didn't see any point in being mad about it because it just takes a bit of persistence to get around it. I certainly would be extremely annoyed if that part wasn't available to purchase separately at all.

Well guess what? I went to a nearby town guild's quilt show today and one of the vender had the replacement kit at her booth. I bought one so now I will have two sets. She said as long as I had the handle the parts in the kit will make a brand new cutter. The handle is very unlikely to get broken. She said not many companies advertise selling replacement parts for their brand notions.

I suspect Joe'smom is right - if companies don't make it easy to get a replacement part, people will just buy a whole new cutter. I will admit, I would probably not have thought of trying to find parts. I feel like I should knock wood - I've yet to break a cutter.

I'll tell the person I thank you to the company for having the replacement kits available and glad to see the item on the website now. At least a real person answered the phone even though it was confusing.
My cutter has lasted for years so two replacement kits will last for a long time. Really every part but the handle is in the kit. I have lots of other brands of cutters but this is my favorite and best one.
