Today, I've been sewing long strips on my 301 for a Community service quilt. At some point, I realized the upper tension had gone haywire. I have to rip out all those strips.
The question is: What happened? All of a sudden (almost) the tension went from 4 to O. I have no clue what happened. I know I didn't move it.
I just did a machine binding yesterday and it was working normally.

Is it possible the nut on the tension stud worked its way loose...or tighter? There should be a little splay outward on that split stud, that is what keeps the nut on. And also makes it a wee bit harder to thread that nut on. If it is easy to thread the nut on the stud, that may be the cause of the change in tension.
