....... A quilt that you made a long time ago (for me 2017) and it sits in a drawer?
Our guild had a workshop on making the Take 5 Quilt pattern. Choose 5 fabrics and make a quilt in 5 hours.
I accomplished my goal and then decided to quilt it with quilting designs from a book I had on dot to dot quilting. ( I don't know the name of the book any longer.) I loved how the quilt turned out. I wanted to save it for someone special one day but because it has a bee print as part of the blocks, it limits me to who would want a quilt with bees? I was new to quilting when I chose the fabrics. One day it will find a home. It has good memories for me as I had fun making and quilting it.

Yes, I even have a couple of them. Fairly new to quilting, I would try anything and everything! Some I still love today. The only thing I ever made with bees was a Native shirt for my husband. His last name in Sami means “bee keeper”. He wanted a ribbon shirt, minus the ribbons so he could wear it in solidarity for my Native American son. Since my husband isn’t Native he asked for no ribbons and a shirt with bees. It took a long time to find bees that were life like and not cartoonish. He wears that shirt proudly as does my son.

Bee fabric is still very popular. And there are several quilts with bee hives and/or a bee made of fabric pieces. Bees remind me of spring - kinda like flowers. I think there are a lot more people who would like your quilt than you give credit, but you will know just the right one when the time comes.

I was astonished many years ago by my son's father whose mother had gotten him some very nice sheets that were mostly bamboo/grass sort of design with little 1" butterflies here and there. He threw a fit and that he didn't want no bugs on his bed... there are reasons why we are exes

I had not thought that butterflies would be an issue. I can understand (maybe) some other things and try to stay away from "problematic" fabrics for donation projects... but in my current quilt I happily have some white with black ants crawling around.

Short form: It takes all kinds, bees would not bother me in the slightest.

I designed a quilt around the Trip of Life panel back some years ago. In fact I had 2 of the same panels in case I goofed up with the 1st one. Well, I sliced the panel vertically and added another strip between the slices to make it the same width as length. I created the PP blocks to go around the 1st set, then a sashing with those diamond down the middle and that's where I got hung up as I couldn't seem to get them to fit correctly. I even got the next set of pieced blocks all made up plus rows and rows of these sashings witht he diamonds going down the middle. Then I put it away for quite a few years. I even found online fabric from the same collection for the backing. This quilt will come out around 100 x 100 so good size. So there it sits in the storage room for years until I decided to clean out the storage room plus was putting stuff where is should go including the backing to this bad boy. Now it sits in a plastic container alongside the shelves of fabric, out of the way. But now I have someone that would love to have this quilt so it will be on my list for 2026 to finish it. Wish me luck on getting it done.

No reason to keep it hidden and suffocating in a drawer any longer.
It's Christmas ... gift it to YOURSELF!

Gosh...I probably have too many of those kinds of quilts. I'm at the quilting faze of a quilt that I started about 7 years ago. I love it. I'm selfish, so it will be part of my own collection and not be given away.

If one does not love or respect oneself - what chance does the neighbor have?

I think many older women have been taught that loving oneself is a bad thing.

i am not talking about " sellfishness " - but too much selflessness can be, imo, self- destructive.
