    Default Virtual Quilting Weekend--Dec 12-14, 2025

Time for another VQW. Anyone working on last minute presents? Or maybe trying to finish a UFO before end of the year? Perhaps planning projects for next? And I bet at least one person is starting on presents for next year! Whatever your plans are for the weekend, I hope you're able to spend at least part of them with us. I'm not quite sure exactly what I'm working on this weekend. Tomorrow morning DH and I are running errands and then assembling a baby gate in the afternoon. We added a 3 1/2 year old seal bicolor ragdoll girl to the family 3 1/2 weeks ago. It has been interesting! Our 8 yo calico does not like her and makes sure we all know it. So we have to split the house in half at night so they each have some space. The gate we have is quite precarious so hopefully the new one will work better.

Next months VQW will be January 16-19, 2026. I will do a special VQW December 31-January 1 if anyone cares to join me

Oh, goodness, I just stumbled on your opening post for this month's VQW.
    My plans are:
Finish 20 3" blocks for a competition project
Finish a UFO quilt for my Granddaughter.
Finish Christmas Cards and get them in the mail.

Now time to get to work on that list!

I’ve been making my list and checking it twice. Finished Xmas gifts, just need to pick up a few gift cards to add to kids pkgs. finished binding on last charity quilt for the year yesterday. Cranberry salad to make for our guild party tomorrow. Then I can start on something just for fun. I have two options in mind at the moment. Let’s see which gets started this weekend.

I'm in as much as possible. I know I won't get anything done on Saturday. My orchestra is having our annual Christmas Pops concert so we have a dress rehearsal in the morning then I have other things to do to get ready for the actual concert that evening. I am trying to finish my potato chip quilt. I am quilting it SID and only have two more blocks to do, then SID the outside of the inner border. Once I have that done, I will probably just bind it to finish it. No plans for the next quilt so that will have to be a wait and see. I am also looking at maybe getting a Grace cutie frame and mid arm machine. We'll see on that though.

I’m in again too! I’ll be finishing the facing on my second modern quilt. This is waaaay out of my normal area.LOL up next is to layer, quilt and bind a 40” x 50” Comfort quilt I made a few weeks back. I’m trying something new: finishing things I made this year before the year is over. If there is time, I’ll finish up a couple of tops I made years ago. This idea may only last until January 1, 2026.

Count me in, but due to social calendar may not get a lot done. I'm piecing another potato chip baby quilt, I've got a big QOV on the longarm that is giving me fits. Usually I enjoy longarming, but this isn't happening with this one. I've become aware that there are several longarmers in our QOV group and Quilt Police are on the prowl. If I don't enjoy sewing something, I'm afraid it usually shows. I also need to finish 8 placemats with topstitching. Happy sewing!

I hope to spend major time in my glassroom (that is what we call it because stained glass came first and the name stuck). I have started a pixel nativity scene. I cut up a cross stitch pattern to create the scene I wanted! So far, I have Mary and part of a manger! Pics later?

I'm hoping joining will keep me on track to finish what needs to be done over the next few days. I have one medium sized pouch to finish for an order. Then, a table topper and runner to quilt (gonna use the same backing and throw them thru the longarm) and bind. Those are gifts for next week's guild meeting so they are a MUST!!

Our guiild is have a Sew Fun day tomorrow, if the weather cooperates. I am not sure if I want to pack up and drag everything to the meeting. But it would give me a chance to socialize and maybe get rid of....ummm.....donate some scraps.

Yesterday,I received a very large top to longarm. This one has me a little worried since the customer is a newish quilter and from seeing some previous work, definitely not the best piecer. I need to go over it to check for any missed or raveling seams, and see how square it actually is. She also sent along a pieced backing that she wants used. Oh dear.

Well, I'm still quilting on my November quilt, WIngs in a PRayer Sangria. I'm custom quilting it like a fool as it's for my sister. I'm finally on row 4 out of 5 rows so I'm over halfway at least. There are 3 blocks per row plus pieces sashings around each block and smaller blocks along the sides as there were on the top and bottom. Each of the larger blocks have from 40+ to over 60 sections to them and I'm stitching each one out separately with a pattern. What was I thinking? I used 4 spools of thread just on the middle row in the cream plus I'm using 4 thread colors on this quilt. I've been working on the layouts before I do the actual stitching and getting my sister's approval on the layouts so that takes time. I wanted to have this done last month but as you can see I'm still working on it and it will be nice if I can get it done for this month. I still have another large WIngs in a Prayer quilt to do next month for my sister. That will take care of all her beds then. Mother's bed got my 1st ever log cabin quilt ever made. I finally finished the Allitaire, a mytery quilt from Bonnie Hunter 2 months ago so that went on one of her spare beds so I'm making headway on all her beds. Some day I'll have a quilt on my bed but it's hanging up on my design wall right now half finished.

But this weekend I'll be quilting myself silly on this quilt. Have my IPOD singing away while I do it.
