Thanks again for hosting this weekend Raggiemom! I will be doing some more hand quilting on my batik hearts quilt this afternoon, and then again in the morning while I host our guild zoom for 2 hours.
i am contemplating making a Chandelier quilt done with scraps, but just looked at the pattern yesterday, so probably won’t do anything about that this weekend.
I just finished a baby quilt yesterday, will make sure I posted it in photos later.

I got my first try at modern quilting finished. Now on to layer, quilt and bind a log cabin Comfort quilt. That should take up the remainder of my weekend.

A potato chip quilt is similar to a log cabin. The AI definition is a scrappy quilt made from 18 2.5" x 4.5" rectangles. These are the "chips." On mine, I started with an 8.5" square and sewed the rectangles around it. To make it go quicker, I used strip sets cut to size. There are YouTube videos out there with instructions for creating one. The nice thing about them is no seams to line up.

73+quilts, The potato Chip Quilt or the Potato Chip Block is all over the internet. Google and you will find many options and lay outs. Here is the source I started with when I began making them about two years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lyBtI2086I This is from "Conquering Mount Scrapmore with Brenda". It works and she gives good directions that are easy too follow.

All of the other directions and tutorials are a variation of this one. Have fun with how ever you choose to make yours. The whole thing is like potato chips....you can't make just one.

Update on my progress for this weekend:
    25- 3" blocks done
20 more blocks cut out for later.- not on the list but the fabric was staring at me and I just made more.

Moving on to addressing and mailing cards.

I'm in even though things are hectic during this season I'm making time! We are doing a "brown bag" exchange in our Guild. The fabric I received was from Japan so I made a Kokemburo ,or Rice Bag. I'm just about done except for a tiny bit of Sashiko stitching.on the side panel. I'll post pix at the end of the weekend. Its due Wednesday and I'm thrilled I'm almost done. I won't be putting stitches in an hour before the Social this time!

Nesie, I am looking forward to seeing your bag. I was just introduced to Sashiko this fall but haven't tried it yet. Anxious to see someone else's stitching in this "new" old style of needle work.
