I’m guessing his week’s clue is going to be the border.
First reason is because there’s no sets, they’re just random. Perfect for a border.
Second reason is if my math is mathing correctly, it works with the dimensions of the quilt if there’s a 4x4 square in each corner.
Only time will tell if I’m right!!!!

I was right.
I’m rarely right, so I gloat when it does happen.
I didn’t end up making this one, but the quilts you all made/are making are just gorgeous. I’m loving them.

Iceblossom, I really love the lacy look your whites give the grays and blacks, very pretty! I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone else's, normally Bonnie's designs are just too busy for my eyes but this one has me wondering if I might make a smaller one as I like it quite a bit, I saved the clues just in case. lol

Still making progress. I've completed the first block Bonnie shows in clue 8 - all of them. Now back to clue 5. I've figured out how I wanted the layout of this unit to be in the quilt so my stars did not get lost in the block. I've got all the units together and will hopefully complete this clue tomorrow. Then on to clue 7 which is partially cut.

I didn't get much done sewing-wise yesterday, Sunday is our bowling date day we play a few games and have lunch (unwich/lettuce wraps at Jimmy John's). He has to live with me and my fabric all the time, and once a week I share his hobby
I did start another set of five Alternate blocks. My goal for today is to finish all of them, but I do have some errands and other things to attend to. Tomorrow is sewing group day and I will work on Alternates first, and then on the large sides of the Lupine Star blocks.
I think it is necessary for me to see the overall interplay of the design, or at least 4 full rows... and especially how the dark works which is why the Alternate blocks were my first choice to finish.
I am leaning towards using the brick walkway charcoal print for the inner border, square centers, binding and back. It is fun for me to have the same fabric on the back and top of a project. But that white and gray print really grows on me, I may do it as the narrow inner border, while keeping the center square gray.
But here's some of what I did do yesterday, playing with fabric.
Picture 1 shows what the Kaffe fabric would look like as the inner border. The inner squares are the white, so as designed other than my color shift. Bonnie's blue is my black and white, and from the first I just didn't think it would work so well for me. I think matching the inner border with the squares help the eyes dart around to find the various emerging patterns.
Picture 2 shows that white and gray fabric, both as the inner border and the square centers. It tend to disappear about as much as the whites, but close up I like how it brings together the white/gray units. But 1" is just so small, does it really make much of a difference?

I think the Kaffe inner border is more exciting than the gray.
Stitches23, would you care to share your plan for the Alternate block? At first I found the block difficult, but I am more accepting of it now that I see it in the quilt.

Back from errands round 1, will still have to put a couple things together and go to post office.
The 5 Alternate blocks started yesterday are done, but that still leaves a lot to go... looks like Tuesday sewing group will need to be productive.
LOL, Joesmom -- the Kaffe fabric certainly is wilder than the gray. I'm looking at at that inner border as a belt to contain all that frivolity!
I am thinking of some of my initial pulls and whether I want to make a "one color each low volume sparkle fairy" version of the project... I will probably come to my senses by the time this is done but I don't really have my "next" project picked out yet.

Here it is. I'm only using 5 fabrics but they all came from stash so I call it a win. My reason for changing the second block was because the Ohio Star is my favorite block and I really wanted it to stand out and not be lost in the design. If I hadn't already put the crosses together, I would have used a light center instead of a dark one.

You can do it Quossum, and I love those colors you have!
If I did the rectangles again I would paper piece. I obviously did something wrong maybe 25% of the time. Still don't know what it was.
