Virtual Quilting Weekend--1/16-1/19/26
#21
Just checking in, DH is out with a friend in his man cave i.e. second garage. Last night I sorted thru old sewing patterns. I have a group of keep, a larger group of donate and two piles, one to go to daughter and other to my niece. I'm not passing on anything they don't want. Right now I'm binding a quilt for our church group, then back to cleaning.
Ice - Love the Dragon quilt.
Everyone sounds very busy. If you have warm weather today enjoy it! Looking out the window at light flurries? Or just blowng snow not sure 10 deg but feels like -6.

Had to share. This is Pebbles with me while I sew. Pebbles is what her vet calls a "super senior". February 4th she'll be 16. Her eyes and hearing have gotten worse and hind quarters a little weak, so she doesn't like being alone. When she was younger she rarely came downstairs because she doesn't like it. She barks and whines upstairs but will finally come down now. After checking the downstairs for wild animals, she lays on a footstool I put at the end of my sewing cabinet where she can see me and the stairs in case anyone comes down. Upstairs she has ramps in the living room to get up on furniture, downstairs, I lift her. I do enjoy having her downstairs with me.

Pebbles is sweet! Thank you for the smile today.
First church quilt is finished and back in its bag to go back to church with the others. I thought I finished the patterns last night, but found more when I pulled all the baskets and open sorting boxes out of my sewing room. I will do go though them tomorrow. Right now I'm in the process of gathering all my random feet for our sewing machines so that I can hopefully have a set with each sewing machine. At the same time, I'm looking for all my UFO's and WIP's I don't think I have any Wombats. So far I have found 4 WIP's, I'm trying to gather all the stray things that should be with them. Next on the list is to sort all the leftover fabric from projects and get them back where they go. I think March's VQW I'll start the down sizing unless I created another mess.
Then there is the other donation quilt and my SIL's top to press and backing to stitch. ( But no mail until Tuesday so that can wait until Monday.)

Oh, how did I miss this weekend event. I have been stitching away all afternoon at pile of scrappy I started last March or April. . They are economy blocks with scrappy four-patches as the center. Any way as of now, I have finished 50 today for a total of 160 of my total needed. They are small, four inches, so I am considering adding a narrow white sashing between blocks. I will add some sashing tomorrow and provide a photo.
This is a long term project that is now considered a UFO. It will be a few months before this project is finished.
But I have enjoyed the pocess....to date.

Iceblossom—love the dragon quilt
🫂Drive went well today, I’m in Georgia and will drive four hours tomorrow to moms. Forecast is for rain until 1 pm. Hoping it’s just a drizzle. I don’t like driving in the rain, especially when the roads are unfamiliar. Looks like many of you have been very active today!

I’m curious about the oven towels?
QUOTE=thimblebug6000;8713838]Managed to get the blocks finished and pressed for my scrappy blues chandelier quilt, and dug out my ruler for cutting the setting triangles, so might have time this morning to search for large enough scrap pieces of neutrals. My guild sew day isn’t until 12:15-5 today and will work on placemats while I am there. One lady said she would demo towels for the oven door, I looked at a youtube and they look a little too fiddly for me 🤪 but I will watch her demo in case she has some tricks to share. I enjoy seeing and hearing what everyone is up to during these VQW, thank you for sharing![/QUOTE]

Raggiemom, the youtube I watched was from notchessewingstudio and she measured everything precise etc. the guild demo…she said…cut the towel in half and then gather or pleat it until it is 6” and then….she more or less followed the youtube video. I didn’t make it for our home, but if we still had our RV I would have. We do hang a towel from our oven door, but if I had to remember to pull the loop down to get to the towel each time….
nope…not happening 🤪. They do look good, and if you have an embroidery machine that youtube lady describes how to place things.

No, I am not doing a decluttering but I did take a stack of printed computer patterns to the sew day….tonight….I am sitting cutting the leftovers into scrap paper! 🤪. Back in 2017…I thought I would make these 😃

My day was more or less productive. Started the day trimming some blocks for Bonnie's mystery, getting other pieces pinned and ready to make into blocks. Then I had a nice "Me" break - I went to my nail salon to get my nails and feet pampered. Then back into my sewing/dining area. I am making a little progress with Bonnie's Lupine & Laughter. Sorry it got to late to get pictures, I'll post them tomorrow.

I wasn't nearly as productive yesterday. Still, I managed to load and partially quilt a smaller (42x52") quilt, did a fair amount of cutting for the next scrap project. Still need to piece that backing ( the goal for today)
