Hello, all. I have not done a ton of sewing this weekend. I did start a panel with my name to matchstick stitch. Pink fabric with purple thread! I started with 1/4" spacing, as seen in picture. Today is when I will stitch in-between the lines until stitching is dense enough. Not sure where I will use it, perhaps a tote.

This morning I will be sewing down the binding then into the wash it goes. Hungry Caterpillar panels are so cute.

Neat project, lots of starts and stops to surround your name.

Snooze2978--hopefully your machine will be available sooner than later so you can finish the quilt for auction.

JENNR8R--once a month I host a "virtual quilting weekend". It just means we all share what we're working on here in this thread. Since we're not physically together, I call it a virtual quilting weekend. I just pick a weekend each month; often they're on a holiday weekend but not always. Hope that answers your question.

Quiltmom2--how did it go with piecing the batting? I use fusible tape to "piece" mine.

Nesie--how did you like glue basting?

I've had a productive couple days working on wool applique. I did finish a hand embroidery piece and one felt ornament top. Tomorrow I'm running around visiting various friends here in Cincinnati. I'm only back up here twice a year for the retreats so i try to see as many people as possible. Will check back in tomorrow night. Looks like we have quite a few quilting this weekend!
I love the glue basting method! I use elmers school glue. I had tried it before but this time I had a friend show me exactly how she does it. I do a lot of donation quilts and it is not practical to hand sew them if they are going to be washed a lot. After I glue,
I zig zag. You would not believe how flat the binding comes out, including mitered corners. (I bring the front to the back)
One of the tricks is to make sure you square up perfectly.

I have three of the quilts I was hoping to finish this weekend all done, quilted and binding done. I finished two bindings this morning. Hoping to work on the last one this afternoon. Will post pictures later.

Have to sew the ends of the binding together and finish hand sewing that area. That's for tomorrow.

The pictures are sideways so tried to correct it - didn't work.

I had all intentions of sewing something this weekend, but other activities took precedence. I didn't even touch my cello and I have a bear of a concert in a couple of weeks. Oh well, there is always next month.

    Cheers,
    Shari

I finished one top with the dark kona cottons I found, then started a second one. Changed plans to finish a quilt my grandson started in January. He sewed a bunch of 1.5 inch strips together -- all blacks and whites. I added the color around them and decided yesterday to finish up by quilting it. Something I never do! Now just to need to sew down the binding.
