How clever of you! And how exciting to find such a treasure.

Oh, my goodness! I learned to sew on my mother's machine that was identical to that-cabinet, pull down drawer and all! You pushed a lever at your knee to make it run. I don't know what happened to it. What a great find! Congratulations.

Holey Moley...someone actually threw away a precious machine? My grandmother had this same model looks like and im 60 so that's tells ya how old this is. Hers had the metal grated foot pedal and sews like a dream. Enjoy this after it's cleans up! Let us know how she 'blows' :D

I love dumpster finds... Have two "modern" machines that I rescued from the trash...Nothing wrong with either of them...gave one to my granddaughter and I use the other one for teaching.

Hmm, maybe I need to become a dumpster diver or is that diva now that I am more mature?

Wow! Lucky you! The cabinet (minus the wear and tear) is identical to the one my mom had for her slightly newer (1940s) Singer that had a different stitch length lever and tension control, but otherwise like yours. That machine will serve you well, I'm sure.
