I'll have to try the sun if I haven't ruined my mat already.

I left it in the car and it warped like crazy...ripples throughout. I tried pressing it with foil between the mat and the iron and that worked minimally. Now I'm wondering if the measurements became skewed when a mat warped and I tried to iron it.

Today I repurposed the gloomy weather.

I needed to press some fabric but didn't have any distilled water to help get the stubborn wrinkles out. (Our water has a high mineral and iron content.)

We were between rain showers so I put my wooden laundry rack on the porch and hung my fabric on it. Within an hour the fabric was damp enough to iron. I brought it in just in time too!

When we bought a new dining room set I moved the old one into my sewing area, with the leaf in. It is 72" long and 42" wide and perfect for laying my quilts on to baste, to cut fabric on, etc.

I do something similar, but use carpet samples, those pieces that are about 14" x 18" and are bound on the edges. Used to be able to get them at the 99 cent store so I have several. One fits perfectly inside my machine case on wheels for taking to classes.

Ok this isn't related to quilting....but.....

I save plastic bags and use them for shipping stuffing.

I made an attempt at consolidating these great ideas into a word document.I know I misssed some bouching back and forth, but hopefully captured most and with the correct perspectives. My pardons for any omissions. If you would like me to send the file, please PM me -- I was not able to find instructions on attaching such.

I use my little roller from wallpapering to press my seams on those little pieces.
