I'm late reading posts and sorry I missed your birthday with dozens and dozens of QB friends! Everyone forgot my BD one year and I made myself a chocolate cake and wrote "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME" in yellow letters. Then I tried to get creative (never a good thing) and make some white flowers w/yellow centers on the cake. The flowers looked more like fried eggs, but it got the message across.

Happy belated birthday! I know how you feel, I never get any parade either. My birthday is tomorrow and it kind of makes me feel blue because I know nothing special will happen (# 50 too boot). A couple of years ago I got the biggest surprise. I was lamenting to the veterinary tech that treated our cat (2 times a week for kidney failure) that nothing special, not even a cake. The next week at our appointment she had a belated birthday cake for me. That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. I will never forget. I wish you something fun and unexpected to happen this year that you will never forget. And I guess I should be smart like you and get a frozen cake to celebrate myself, you can treat yourself on your birthday, just do like you do for everyone else. I usually like to shop for myself, then your get exactly what you wanted! Hope you enjoyed your cake.

Hi Jenny and happy almost-birthday. Hope something nice and unexpected happens and even if it doesn't, be surprised with lots of good wishes from all your quilt board friends. Have a great year, fifty isn't so bad.

Happy Birthday early, Jenny. The year I turned 50 I became a grandmother for the first time. That made it really special. I have always felt that when we have our birthdays, our mother is the one who should have the special party or celebration. My mother is not around and I guess that makes me feel sad. But when we get old or older we have to look out for ourselves. Hence the birthday cake for me. My grandkids laugh because I told them I was forty, which is one year younger than their uncle Ted; he is 41. So now that is the joke, Grannie is younger than Uncle Ted. Sounds more believable than being forever 29.

Wishing you a very happy birthday, Jenny. This is coming to you a day early because tomorrow morning I will be on my way from Burbank, CA to Denver, Co. So go make this the best birthday you have ever had. Celebrate You. I'll be thinking of you with all best thoughts.
