Although I did not log out today (yes, I am guilty of doing that much too often), I was away from home for most of the day at Stitches West 2011 (the yarn/knitting show). Wow, I came home, looked at this board, and was overwhelmed by the lovely responses I received from each and every one of you. If only I could name the quilt for everyone's suggestions, I would - they are ALL wonderful, believe me. The people on this board are so warm and supportive, I don't know what I would do if I could not log on daily. Even though I have not met but one person on this board, I feel as if you are all friends.

So, thank you for caring enough to write and also sharing your own great stories. I am amazed and pleased at how many of you play, or know someone who plays/played the accordion. Lawrence Welk was my introduction to music, and Myron Floren my idol. My teacher also taught Myron, by the way. Sorry if that was redundant - I don't recall if I mentioned it or not.

Will let you know my naming decision soon.

    Thanks again. Sharon

I agree. How about something like Daddys Amazing Love or just Daddys Grace/ Hope you find just the one you will feel suits how you feel.

Beautiful quilt. My mom used to play the accordian. I think it's a lost art. I love the sound. I didn't inherit her talent to play a musical instrument. The closest I come is the radio.

Great job on the quilt and I would name it Amazing Grace it is your fathers favorite song and how appropriate. You sure did a fantastic job on the accordion.

Accordion By Kiran W., Queens Village, NY

    play the accordion

and I’ll watch as your fingers

    sway across the cream-colored keys

it’s so beautiful, I close my eyes and

all I can hear are your lovely harmonies

being played like you’ve never stopped

you take me away from this four-walled room

into the forest where violet flowers are dancing slowly

the green in the grass is rich and soothing

and the sky, I can’t describe ... it’s beyond all the pictures in our heads.

for once let’s just forget all the soil-covered moments

and live in this gold that you’ve created.

    play the accordion

and I’ll watch as your fingers

    sway across the cream-colored keys
