" You ever think your just not good enough?"

Yes all the time, no matter what I am working on at the time I will see imperfections in my workmanship and so become dissatisfied with what I am doing or have done. No one else seems to notice that I am maybe a little out with my measurements, or the seam is not quite right or the point is slightly off but I do. To me it is glaringly obvious yet when it is done I will put myself through it all again as I tackle some new project.

I had hoped to finish it for his birthday in November, then my goal was Christmas, now my goal is New Year's. Ever glad to be done with a project? Sometimes I think I am just no good at this stuff. Just remember that you are giving a part of yourself when you make something for someone you love. If it is not perfect, neither are we. If we were, we would have perfect quilts. Good luck with your ventures.

quilting is a very long and hard process. and yes, you have to love it. i dont know that i love it yet. it might have to grow on me. as i say that i have a vision in my head of another quilt i'd really like to try. i'm glad to see all the "quilters" with words of advice and their "oops". nice to hear that no one is perfect and we probably never will be. with all the work that a quilt requires, i'd really have to know who that quilt is goind to before i gave it away. i remember knitting for twins quite a few blankets. once they were born i went to see the babies only to find my blankets on the floor for the dog. now that really hurt.

I'm not good enough either but I make them to keep the ones I love warm. It's from my heart and I hope that is what counts.

I've been quilting for about 7 years, sewing for 40+ - there are just somethings that I hate doing (zippers, for one) and am never really happy with the way them come out. But the smiles on my "gift" recipients makes it all worthwhile. We are our own worst critic, seeing things no one else will notice. Keep at it, you'll get better because that is what practice does.

We are our worst critics. Look at the work, planning and time you used to make a present for a loved one. That is what means the most to him, your time, your talent but most of all your thoughtfulness, plus it your own design. Don't knock yourself down, somebody else will do it for you. Enjoy what you do, pat yourself on the back and on to a new project. Have a Happy New Year.

I have a friend who does the q police thing with me occasionally. All I can say (and have said nicely to her) is that I enjoy working with color in all my quilts and each one is appreciated by its recipient. Both my DH and DDs like my quilts more than hers b/c of the colors. It seems to me she is afraid of using color in her quilts whereas I never met a color I wasn't afraid to use a pice of it somewhere in a quilt. I look back at my work a year ago and where it is now and I can see my improvement - my points mostly meet nowadays and I'm doing more than lines and SID. I use Google images for black and white images of what I want to quilt on the piece and sew around the pattern on the copier paper. One of my friends in church said she'd never even thought of doing that. Don't ask me about my FMQ. Now that does neeed lots of improvement yet. Hugs and keep at it.
