Oh Janice have been there done that. There is one pattern for a block in Around the Block that I just plain can’t do. Has driven me crazy multiple times. Good Luck.

Sewbiz I sure wish we could send you some of our non stop rain. Another 2.5” in the last 2 days. They were forecasting 4 to 6.5”, very thankful that didn’t happen.

Gosh I sure didn’t know multiple skin problems can also go with aging. I am not a happy camper

WMUT so glad your thrifting trip paid off for you. Hope you enjoyed yourself

Terri, which block in the book can't you do? That book has irrata (errors) so maybe it's not your fault. Sorry you are having the skin problems. I'm sure the hot weather doesn't help with that any.

Love that so many fabrics have been delivered! Janice, have fun sorting all the pretty fabrics. Soon we'll all be playing with them.

Great thrifting trip, WMUT! I love thrifting just about as much as sewing.

I'll go back to my Faux Diamonds blocks now, and wait patiently for fabric arrival day.

My stinker block is from that book. It’s the Around the Corner block. I’ve made it multiple times before but never had a problem so I guess it’s me. I’m curious what your tough block was Terriamn.

The Virginia Reel block pattern in Around the Block Again is a very messed up pattern. I can't believe they let it go to print like that. If you look at the construction diagram, you can see how different it is from the block picture.
Janice, The Around the Corner block is all made up of little triangles cut on the bias. Hardly any 'on grain' cuts to anchor them to. No wonder it sucks to make. Those bias cuts can really 'shape shift' on you. I think if I have to make that block ever, I'll starch the bejeebers out of it first. (Sewing with Cardboard).

There have been mistakes (typos) in other patterns in the ATB books, but you can usually figure what's wrong and write a little correction in your book. The publisher may even have the errata for the books and the other books they publish. Let me check...
Nope. Martingale went out of business about two years ago and there doesn't seem to be any central page for errata. They're just done.

I’ve got that book, too, SBG. I’m going to mark it as wrong so I don’t try it. I wouldn’t be upset about my block were it not for the fact that I’ve made it multiple times correctly. That’s the frustrating part. The center section is right on so I’ll use it and figure out something else to surround it.

The pups are looking for breakfast so I’d better get going. Have a nice day.

Oh, 2 more packages should arrive today. Woo hoo!

You all are trying to make me feel better after working on a pattern for 6 months before I got it right! ❤️

I don’t even attempt those difficult blocks. The most difficult block I do is a Carrie Nation block. I still have trouble with this block. I try to do one each boom. I’m so much more comfortable doing raw edge applique. These blocks take more time than the pieces blocks but tend to be more original.

We have to go to my daughter in Omaha next week to take care of four grandkids. Teens and twin four year olds. My daughter is having knee surgery. My youngest son doesn’t want me to go. He doesn’t feel like I’ve recovered from the last trip. We’ll see.

All the blocks are gorgeous. Janice I love seeing the same block in different colorways. Really educated my color palette.

Oh my, Janice I can relate. I have even struggled with a PP pattern that wouldn’t get to size.

Anyone near the east coast stay dry - hurricane May night hit land but the west side is the worst.

Made a batch of applesauce. Half- pint size is perfect for the two of us. Only apples and cinnamon- yumm

TG, your applesauce sounds delicious. I like unsweetened applesauce. It’s too sweet with sugar.

GramE, I’m glad my catastrophic block makes you feel better! Roflol. I reworked it again but no joy so I scrapped it. I’ve made another block from the same f8 with shreds to spare. I’m content with it but not thrilled. It looks nice it just wasn’t what I planned. Oh, well. Moving on.

mjpEncinitas, my block wasn’t hard, not even the least bit tricky but I just couldn’t find my mistake. Most frustrating one ever, and that’s saying something.Take care of yourself while caring for the children!

My friend is vacationing in Hilton Head, SC, this week and she says the skies are clear but the water is somewhat rough and it’s windy. Evacuation orders are in effect in some parts of the NC shore. That’s precautionary at this point but better safe than sorry. Not good. Glad I’m hundreds of miles away. Hurricane Helene still looms large here after nearly 11 months.

My grands hard their first airplane ride yesterday. They flew to Florida for a vacation. The did great and loved it. They were so excited! I’m getting loads of pix from them. Already having a grand time.

It’s raining again. Two more packages today to brighten my day.
