Love walmart fabrics. would love LQS also if I were willing to spend the money. But I like having to only spend under $4/yd for fabric.

Lucky you, to have a choice as to whether to buy from WalMart or not. Here in Colorado, I believe WM took all fabric services out of their stores.

The Cortez Walmart still has some fabric but, just a fraction of the original inventory.

The Jo-Ann's here in the East are selling fat quarters for 1.00 this week. Plus they have all kinds of coupons in the paper this week. You can get them online too.

I used to buy fabric from there all the time. I made a lot of costumes and I could get some decent fabrics for cheap ($1 or $2 table). Now that I'm sewing again, I'm dismayed to discover that the stores around me no longer carry fabric. Bummmer!

When our quilt guild had a LQS owner teach a class, she admired one of my fabrics. It was a really nice fabric by South Seas and before I thought about who I was talking to I told her it was from Walmart. LOL she told me to bite my tongue.
I buy mostly from quilt shops but in truth I buy everywhere.
I have been sewing forever and have enough experience to tell the difference between good quality and not so good but once in a while I get stung and sometimes it has been in the LQS.

their supply of Red Rooster fabrics seems to be dwindling, but they still have tons of General Fabrics and P&B Textiles.

i highly recommend you go through the online shop hop
    http://fabshophop.com/

some of the prices you'll see will scare you half to death.
but ... go straight back to the sales and clearance sections of each and every shop after you find the bunny. you will find great bargains at some of the shops. it doesn't happen every day, but i have occassionally found high-end quilt shop fabs for as little as $2 and $3 per yard.

when you see a store you want to remember, write down the website and/or bookmark it (add it to your favorites).
