I amstill around, I am involved with community theater. Takes up a lot of time. I am working on a ghost story show for Halloween. So haven't been posting as I should. My birthday surprise should be there any day, mailed on Friday. Please let me know if you have not recieved it. Please let me know if any of you did not get a package from me. My birthday is next month, and I am so excited to receive Birthday wishes. I don't want anybody to be left out.
Hugs to you Barbara. I love my furbabies beyond words. I couldn't imagine losing one of my pets.

Lstew......
thanks for filling out the questionnaire ....
Community theater sounds like fun...the girl I nanny Amelia (she is 11) does community theater. She was Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, she was Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and Anne in Anne of Green Gables.....
She is really good and it takes my breathe away to watch her up on stage! I think someday if she follows her dreams you might see her one day on some big stage! (if her parents don't get in the way...one is a dr and one is a lawyer)
thanks for checking in and the kind words regarding Oreo.

My favorite quilt pattern for now is a pineapple quilt.
I find that a sharp rotary blade prevents lots of arm pain!
Sewing advice: Sew on an index card. Put the side of your foot along one of the lines on the card and sew. Take the card out. If your sewing is on top of the next line, your 1/4" seam is accurate.
And, another: to tell if you are using cotton or a poly/cotton fabric- 1st iron the fabric on a cotton setting, smell it; if it has a smell, it contains polyester. Toss it! And the burn test-light the edge of the fabric with a match over a sink and blow it out. Touch it, if it is soft, it is cotton, and good. If it is crunchy or beady, it is poly. Toss it!
My other favorite quilt site is Interweave. I like purchasing their downloads for my computer. Better than watching vampire shows!
My main other activity is dyeing; especially bamboo products. I also like gardening and logic puzzles.

I am still here too. I had a total hip replacement six weeks ago and have not had alot of interest in whats been going on here. Nor have I felt like to any sewing. The energy is coming back and I am on the road to recovery.
1. My favorite quilt pattern is the log cabin and it variations.
2. I don't think I could do without my rotary cutter even though after I put a new blade in about four months ago I tried to cut off the index finger of my left hand. Took 6 stitches to sew the end back on. There is only a small dent on the side of my finger from missing tissue. LOL
3. Best sewing advice: Barbara, I agree, measure twice cut once. And may be slow down and pay attention to what you are doing!
4. I enjoy both Quiltville and MamaSparks.
5. I love sitting down with a good book, mostly in the winter, and gardening in the summer.

Thanks for answering the questionnaire ladies!
dottie dodge....I am sorry to hear about your surgery. I know that is no fun, my mom had the samething last year at this time. She became very depressed, and hurt a lot. KNow that your quilting friends are here for you. I hope you mend soon.
Ouch on the finger.....not suppose to cut fingers only fabric....that is my advice to you.
so funny that you know who Mama Sparks is! She is in my quilt group on Wednesday nights. I have learned a lot from here. She makes some pretty amazing things.
Barb
I think I am going to have to start checking out some of the other sites that you ladies are mentioning. I purposely did not ask that question in the summer.....now that fall and the cool weather are here I can spend more time on the computer (my husband just said Yeah!) he is not a computer kinda guy!
