Your quilts are meant to be used enjoyed, loved, lived with. They are a saga of your life don't be afraid to live and love. Get out and enjoy life and your quilts. I use mine all the time the grand kids run off with them and they may or may not come home but I know they are loved and appreciated.

Don't be silly, of course you should use them, that's what they were made for. My kids have gotten many a stains on the quilts (especially when they were young), nail polish, markers, etc. But they certainly were loved! I would rather have someone use a quilt I made than have them being kept in the closet hidden. Take them out and enjoy them!

Reminds me of my mom's china. She bought a new set of china for when her & my dad retired. They were going to build a new house with all the pretty things that she had been saving for retirement. But she passed away before that happened and there they sat in the original box, unused. Good thing was, out of 14 children (her's not mine LOL) I was the only one that liked them so I got to keep them. Yes I tell everyone they were mom's but since they never saw them in use, they have no memories in them to share. But they sure will with my kids because I use them as normal everyday dishes. And it has helped me realize that if you really like something well enough to buy or make it, it needs to be used so once your gone the family has something to talk about with lots of memories to share.

Yes, you should be using your quilts! Before I gift an adult with a quilt, I always ask if they would appreciate and use it. It is too costly (time, energy and supplies) to do otherwise. I'd prefer to buy a store bought gift if they just plan on putting my handmade quilt in the closet. My pleasure comes from their usage of my gift.

I keep one on every bed and one on display in each bedroom. I want my quilts to be seen, loved, and enjoyed.

I have china I don't use except on special occasions. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy setting a nice table every day. I make quilts to use. I enjoy using something I made.

Please, please, please use your beautiful quilts!

My Mom always saved everything nice for 'good'. And that meant she never used it. After she died, I found years and decades worth of beautiful clothes, jewelry, perfumes, etc. Many things still had the tags, literally brand new.

Going through her things taught me to never make that mistake!

Quilts are special items to be used and enjoyed. If you have them tucked away in your linen closet, do you only enjoy them when you clean that closet? Wouldn't it be more rewarding to have them out where you and your loved ones could enjoy them everyday of your lives? The only quilt in my house that doesn't get used (yet) is the show quilt I made earlier this year because I intend to enter it into a few other shows. After that, you better believe it will be put on a bed to be seen and enjoyed.
I have done this and as I got older I realized as you did that if I don't use it then it will be discarded when I die or when the outlaws-other wise known as family- can get into a home-good luck with THAT!!!! I finally figured out that I am special enough for the 'good' stuff!! And I use my quilts and yes, the very spoiled fur babies sleep with me-That is why I have a king sized bed!!!
