    Hi,

    When I make these I fill them with Kaytee walnut pet litter. It is important to buy the crushed walnut. It works wonderfully. One 7 lb. makes a lifetime of chickens. You can buy this at the pet store or maybe at Walmart.

    They are just so cute. You could use ground walnut shells that they sell in the pet stores. I bought mine at a quilt show and used it in a strawberry pincushion

    Snow?? kidding. plent of it outside! I need sand to fill in between my concrete front porch that has large cracks!
    you could use poly batting/stuffing. but sand or crushed walnuts is much better.
