The quilting police do NOT have access to my sewing studio. I start with a pattern and usually change it. I do not pre-wash. :)

ME TOO I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY WOULD PRINT A PATTERN AND THEN TELL YOU NOT TO COPY THATS THE WHOLE PURPOSE TO BUYING A QUILTING BOOK FOR THE PATTERNS AND INSTRUCTIONS.
The point about copying the pattern is not intended for personal use but someone out there does not want you copying and distributing the pattern to a class that you are teaching or selling it to others because then they can't sell it.

Ignorance is truly bliss. I don't press(iron, who cares.) the seams while making blocks, only finger press. I mix washed and unwashed fabric. My stash closet is a mess, I use any kind of thread (I buy thread at yard sales, auctions, thrift stores) but now stay away from any brand of thread that looks "linty". My thread color does not normally match the fabric. I copy patterns (don't send the police please). For years I worked in a tariffed telecommunications environment, rules and regs for everything. My quilting is my place where what I want to do, I do.

I machine-bind...or at least I plan to. I don't pre-wash.
What I've found comforting is that I don't really know "the rules" so therefore, I do what I want and see what happens ! Sometimes Ignorance is truly bliss !

My dogs stand guard at my front door, with very strict instructions to not allow in any "Quilt Police"...so far, it has worked. I figure...my house, my studio, my fabric...my way. Yes I use what thread I have, I buy fabric from Walmart, I over pin everything....and I spend far too many hours on this board....I am a widow living on social security and I figure at this time in my life "I can finally do it 'my way' "
