When I started, there were few patterns for sale.I'd see a pic & try to work up my own pattern from the pic.Still enjoy do that & no, I don't worry about copyright laws.Mine aren't going to be judged & they stay in the family.
Pre washing is another rule that's ignored.
Aren't rules made to be broken?

I sew my binding on backwards, by machine (sew it to the back, then flip it to the front). I think it looks better. :-D

Ooppppsssss I didn't realise quilting had rules LOL I break every rules when i am making a quilt I have fun sewing the bits and pieces and put them all together I just hate the pinning together and machine quilting I wish i had a Fairy to wave her wand and voila finish!!LOL

What rules? Not the Quilt Police again! Use good work practice and let the pieces fall where they may. You will learn what works and what doesn't in practice.

Well, I have not been given rules to obey but, I do follow directions on my projects. After I get the hang of it then, I do it my way which is probably easiest for me :)
