You have just touched on why I no longer have an HP printer... the ink cartridges were way too expensive and lasted way too short a time. :(

Also, for text, if you select ALL and change the font to Century Gothic, it takes about 1/3 or less of the ink other fonts take, and the print is just as legible.

Sign up with HP online. You will get a discount on your purchases, plus they have free shipping for even 3 day UPS shipments.

I thought about that, but it still didn't address the problem of their cartridges not lasting very long. I now have an Epson 835, and I LOVE it. I've used it heavily the past few weeks, and still no sign of needing a new cartridge. HP needs to learn to deliver a better bargain for our hard-earned bucks!

the not lasting thing must vary by printer - I just replaced a cartidge I put in last July 27 - and I print several sheets a day at least.

Just bought another one on Ebay for $6.00 with free shipping.

i started getting mine at Staples. give them the used cartridges (about 10 at a time) and you earn money back. I got $20.00 coupon and an $18.00 coupon. the latter one i used on an amplified phone for my hubby. (it costs over $100.00).
