OT - the fire
Last night I posted that we was in Manitou Springs at
my MIL's and there was a fire burning in an area called
"Waldo Canyon" which is about 4-5 miles from mom's
house.
Although that sounds real close that fire would have to
do a fair amount of ridge jumping and terrain crossing
to get them.
About 1am they started evacing all of Manitou Springs
which is about 5,000 residents, but they were doing that
based on "zones" with mom's house location they were in
zone 6 (the last zone). So about 2am we all got up and started
getting things ready for the evac notice to come.
By 6am we were still waiting and having helped mom (and step-FIL)
get all the most important stuff packed into the the 5th wheel, mom
sent us on our way home (70+ miles north). Wasn't much more we
could do but sit and wait and they didn't want us to get "stuck" in the
evac traffic when it hit or some of the tourists (and there is A LOT of them)
panics to get out of the area.
Hubs and I got home about 7:45, took showers ate a little bite of food
and crashed! we both slept for about 3 hours (but wanted longer).
Here are some photos that I took this morning before we left mom's.

This is ASH on the jeeps fender from the fire.

More ash on the hood of the jeep.

Standing at the curb in front of mom's house looking towards
the fire.

And this is the NORMAL thing to see in mom's yard. This was a lone
doe. Yesterday there was a doe and brand new fawn in the back yard
the fawn was about 1-2 weeks they (mom) thought as it was fairly new
to the visitation rounds.
It is NOT uncommon to see bears, fox, coyotes, deer and any other wildlife
in the area in their yards (front & back).
As of 8am this morning there was 6 fires reported to be
burning in CO and not enough fire fighters, slurry planes
and copters to help with all these fires.

Just wanted to let you know that I sent out the RAK list today,
PLEASE check it over to see if I got everything correct.
I ask this because I had some formatting issues with the data
base, and after several days (and hours) I pretty much had to
recreate the whole blasted format.
