Just be there for her when she makes her first really big mistake and tell her that the mistakes we make are what make our quilts interesting and uniquely our own.

I read this and laughed, thanks for posting I need that! I'm taking a block of the month and some of the ladies were not being so nice for those of us who use sheets for backing or don't buy our fabric from quilt shops.

Well Shelby, we have all had a great chuckle at your perdicament. I noted earlier that " a little knodledge is ....a damned annoying thing!" and now after rereading this thread I need to quote a co-worker..."No good deed goes un-puninshed!" Sorry you got her that class BUT we all know that she will outgrow this QP stage. Someday soon you shall have a great quilting buddy. Hang in there Babe, the best is yet to be! Cheers!

I use my rotary cutter improperly.
My bobbin thread is not always the same color as the top thread.
I incorrectly mix my fabrics in the same quilt. ( Joanns, WalMart and LQS) Oh! The horror!!
I sometimes use a sheet for backing.
I sometimes use dishes, lids or whatever instead of proper templates.
I don't really NEED all the rulers I have.
I don't always follow the pattern.
Bless her well meaning heart, I love her dearly but if she says just ONE MORE thing about my methods or lack thereof, I will beat her to death with my stash.
I sent her the link to this board, she will learn much more here from all of you talented folks.

  I think most of us are in the same boat as you are. We all have our OWN way of making quilts. She'll find out later you use whatever it takes.

I love it, sounds like one of my clients who quilts, she tells me my methods don't really work, I just laugh and show her my work, she says it looks great, but I will get better in time, shes older and she thinks wiser, we all just let her talk, after all is is over three quarters of a century old and she who is oldest is always right HaHa

Gosh, have her read this post and watch the film. She won't say another word!!

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-141171-1.htm

This woman made quilts with scissors, didn't appear to press a single seam, never backstitched or buried a knot, just cut her threads, and used cheap thread. And her quilts were all gorgeous!
