I got mine finished yesterday, but too cloudy to take a good photo today. Maybe tomorrow!

Awaiting extra fabric to finish my top. BTW, bought a fleece sheet at Ikea for $3.99!! 51 x 67" for backing or whole cloth applique! Check it out.

It's not quite the same thing, but come join us in the Grand Illusions mystery by Bonnie Hunter. We are choosing fabric, and the clues will start towards the end of November. http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...a-t255071.html

As for my scrappy star quilt, I'm going to start sewing the borders on today. But in the spirit of "mystery", I'm not going to share what I decided on until it's finished. But I do thank everyone for their comments and encouragement.

Mystery Train #5 is a table runner...I think it was just three clues and a great border

    Default Lots of polka dots

Got my main part done after lots of unsewing. Now to decide on borders.
I have plenty of red, and had bought more black. If I can piece enough yellow together I
was thinking of doing a narrow yellow border and then a wider border of something.

Mimi............Your Mystery Train Quilt has turned out just wonderful. I love all of the polka dots & the colors that you chose to put together. I will be anxious to see another picture, after you add your borders. Nice - Nice!!

I have been hand basting the top. I go to Goodwill for sheet backing. I know some don't do that, but you do what you can. I have never completely basted a top by hand, I stick myself a lot! Usually I pin it. But I watch tv (or listen) and go merrily a long. We'll see how well this holds as I try to do some quilting on my embroidery machine later on.

reeskylr - I'm confused - why would you baste the top without the backing being in the sandwich???

I picked red, black and white fabric also. I hope mine comes out as good as yours. I haven't started yet, need to get a couple other projects done first.
