Isn't that the stupidest thing ever? I thought that SS was supposed to try to catch these thieves, but they are real lax about it. No wonder so many get away with it.

I would also follow up on the Identity theft thing. I have been an identity theft target back before you heard so much about it. It took at least 8 years to clean up my credit report. (they didn't offer insurance etc back then) I came real close to having my wages garnished .
Make sure that you get to the bottom of this.
They may too just be testing to see if your information worked for the ,and then on to bigger things!

Be sure to rip up or shred all documents even magazine subscription cards with your name printed on it. Those credit card companies are the worst sending apps for cards I don't want I always tear the app up to smithereens the part with my name on it. I also rip up old utility bills and anything with our name printed.

Last week I got a call from the pharmacy saying that my prescription was ready for pick up, but I never placed one to begin with. I assumed it was my monthly Syntroid being filled a little early. I went to the pharmacy, gave them my name and they game me back the bag with the medication. Since I was curious I opened it right there and found out that it was not only a medication I never heard of, it wasn't even for me! The girl was very embarased,

I have a very common last and first name as does my husband. He has been give wrong prescriptions by pharmacies, even controlled substances. He realized the error before he got out of the store, but after he had paid (grocery pharmacy) and they would not take it back and treated him like a criminal telling him not to try to be 'pulling any tricks' on us. The bad part was he did not get his prescription that was really ordered filled and came home with narcotics we didn't need or use. I have also been given wrong prescriptions. I understand that they cannot take back pills and give them to customers, but they should have a disposal system available for just this reason.

When I had talked to the insurance company, I asked why they couldn't take out the names since we no longer had their insurance. Their response was that they NEVER remove any names. Not sure why they don't but that was their response to me. Thankfully we got it cleared up, but it was a hassle.
