    Glenn did a tute on redoing the shellac clear coat on the machine head. Glenn, should this not also work on the treadle base finish? Anyhoo, here is the tute.

    I just saved my New Home treadle irons with cleaning and repainting. Wished I'd gone with flat black instead of a satin black finish. Using a wire wheel on a drill and our wire wheel on the big grinder, I only removed rusty areas. It looks ok. Again, the less shine you see the more your eye is drawn to the design and not the finish. Too bad I'm too tired to refinish it... again.
