    I did one with squares between 9 and 10". It went together quickly. I chose the size because I wanted to be able to get 4 squares across the WOF. The center squares were from 2 different but similar fabrics.

    WOW, that is a very large block even when you cut it into quarters. If it was the selection of fabrics, I would cut the cake into 4ths and make the D9P that way. I don't like working with any blocks larger than my 15" square up ruler.
