I have used the rubber surgical gloves but like Prism99 says they don't breathe and will make your hands sweat. I ended up cutting the fingers off and using them on each finger and that helped to move the fabric--still not good as the machingers gloves but was doable. Those cut off fingers are also good to pull thread through fabric when you're hand quilting or hand binding the back of the quilt.

You can also apply puffy paint "dots" to gloves that fit and breath, even pieces of fabric. Place dots on fingertips or fabric squares and let dry.

Machingers quilting gloves just can't be beat. They're for sale on ebay in Poland - http://www.ebay.pl/sch/i.html?_from=...All-Categories

In a pinch, when I can't find my clean gardening gloves, the rubber bands from broccoli around my fingers work well.

Yep, work just as good and breath better than surgeon's gloves... BUT be careful of the color you buy... I bought a lime green pair and the color ran on my white parts.......

Machingers are less than $6 on Amazon. I think I paid about that for them at JoAnn's with a coupon. I don't understand making do with gardening gloves, which do not fit the hand nearly as well, when for a few dollars more you can get something that fits well, breathes, and is made for the purpose.

I think she asked the question because she thought she couldn't get them in Poland. I don't think she's against them.
Maybe she'll get them on Ebay like you suggested.

i cut the finger off the rubber dish washing gloves and and ue o finger i need grip. I also use "Tacky Tinger or finger moistioner from the office store and use glycerine almost like a hand lotion. This gives grip all over the hand.

What about the medical finger cots, the ones that cover wounds.
