I lay it flat on the back, right side down and stitch it on a quarter inch from the edge of the quilt. Then flip it to the front and fold under as i go . It works beatifully...and yep, Peckish is the bomb!

The theory is that when you iron it flat and then fold it over, the inner layer of binding fabric bunches up inside. Kind of like running around a track - the inner track lane is shorter than the outer track lane. So, by NOT ironing it, you allow the fabric to adjust evenly and it doesn't bunch up.

I confuse easily also, so you align just one edge of the binding to the quilt, then fold it in half and stitch it down on the other side? I understand what you are saying about the track and it makes sense.
