I prefer print magazines to digital. Print is easier to take to the sewing room -- I can never get everything I want printed.

Where I live, ONE print magazine (imported, of course), bought in my local magazine shop, costs more than a whole year's digital subscription...so I buy digital subscriptions only now. I bless the day digital subscriptions were invented!

I am letting my subscriptions lapse - so much of it is repetitive or I just don't like anything in the entire issue. Between this board, the library, classes on Craftsy, Mystery Quilts and free patterns from various fabric companies... I'd rather spend my money on fabric!!

For a newbie quilter, I'd recommend Quick Quilts, QUILT, Quilt-It, Quiltmaker and also Quilty (if you are into "modern" quilts). All of these are geared toward easy, quick patterns and simple designs for beginning quilters.
BHG American Patchwork & Quilting, McCalls, QNM and Fons & Porter are best for intermediate level & up quilts. More intricate designs, piecing and applique. I still get a handful of print subsc. I like digital, but enjoy having magazines in hand.
Agree with Cherylsea above, most mags have gotten VERY repetitive. Many are just vehicles for fabric manuf. The other thing that bugs me is when most of the designs (some really bad ones too) are from their own staff (McCalls) and very few freelance designs are published.

Right now the only quilt mag I subscribe to is Quilter's World and my paid subscription comes with a digital subscription as well. I have a trial subscription of Fons and Porters, but I can't say I'm hugely impressed, so I may not renew. I do like the Web Bonuses offered by some of the magazines...I've printed off some nice patterns!
