    Double batting is also a good way to fix a few problems.....Kevin quilted a double wedding ring that had a lot of fullness in the center of the rings. He used a layer of Hobbs 80/20 and a layer of 100% poly...the quilting sucked up all that fullness and turned out great.

    the size of the needle is dependent upon the weight of the thread being used- it has nothing to do with the batting. and, someone asked about 'them' using all cotton....not usually- a cotton blend & wool; cotton & poly; poly & wool; generally it is a combination of fibers- often lofty, lightweight battings.

    When I double bat, I use a layer of W&N and a layer of poly. Only once did I have a long arm pro - refuse to double bat. They had never done it, and did not want to . Now I use Long Arm pro's that will do it.
